Grievance / Suggestion
Hello,
Before beginning, please know I'm not just here to complain, I want to see improvement and I hope admins here do also. I'm not here to point a finger at any particular admin. As a professional firefighter, I know the importance of teamwork better than most people. I am a huge fan of the Team Player Gaming community and since returning to play cs:s these are the only servers I play on. I've also tried to put myself in the shoes of the admins here before filing this complaint, so please know I'm not a raging cs player that is pissed off because I got slayed.
However, I will not continue to contribute to teamwork on these servers if admins continue to treat players with unnecessary slaying in the middle of game-play for things like "not following the call" without a warning. While some players get no punishment for verbal abuse and racial slurs (both of which I have received on these servers yet refrained from filing complaints because after all, it is the internet). If admins want respect from the players, admins should respect the players as well. Respect is a two-way street, and if you want people to have fun on these servers there needs to be some respect to and from admins. I do this the same way for the firefighters that work under my supervision and I have the best damn firefighting company in our department. I think admins need to be leaders more often than rule enforcers.
This evening I was slayed for "not following the call" without warning shortly after connecting to the server. I wasn't connected to the server at the time the call was made. Is a warning required by the admins? I don't know, but it should be strongly considered before slaying someone. I didn't connect in time to follow the call and was instantly slayed after I protected the bomb carrier and proceeded to follow him to the bomb site. I still followed cs:s server rule #1 by playing with my team and attempting to complete the objective.
According to server rules, as far as teamwork goes, here's what gets you punished:
"#3. Refuse to help your team."
Did I refuse to help my team? No. I helped my team and was slayed for not directly and exactly following a call that I wasn't even present in the server at the time to hear.
I am generally someone who will make calls for the team if no one else will, and I will always follow the call no matter what it is to promote teamwork. An instant slay was not necessary in this situation. I hate to be the guy that complains about one little slay, but this is on top of everything else I've witnessed that isn't reported here.
"Hey, just a reminder to follow the calls each round. If you don't know how or where to go, ask for help."
In my book, this would have been the appropriate response to someone breaking the "follow the call" rule that isn't even written in the rules.
Thank you for your time. See you in game!

Re: Grievance / Suggestion
Admins are not required to warn before taking any actions.
EDIT:
If you do not know what the call is...ask.
EDIT 2:
If someone is using racial slurs, report them here:

Re: Grievance / Suggestion
Send an admin message in game if it is a Source game (CSS, TF2, DODS) by typing in TEAMSAY "U", and type "@" then your message.
example: teamsay (U): "@ Player X is using racial slurs"

A slay is a warning. Very few people read text, even admin text. People ALWAYS notice with lightning from heaven strikes them dead.
As for being slayed when you just joined, I am sure the admin had no clue you just joined, or he/she likely would have cut you some slack.

As it has been stated a slay is a warning. Following the call is core here at TPG and the admins aren't required to give a warning for any actions. If you have a time and date, the admins can view chat logs from that day and ban someone who was being racist or out of line.
You did the right thing by bringing your questions here and not raising hell in the servers.
If you aren't sure of what the call is, ask and then immediately go to help out.

While it would be nice for us to be able to see everything....expecting that is a little much. I promise you, that if someone is actively using racial slurs on the server, either there is no admin, or he is doing it when the admin is alive and he is dead. If you see it, do what Sense and Guyver said and it will be taken care of. It may not be done while you are still on the server(if there is no admin) but if you post in the problem players thread, it will be taken care of in most cases.
As far as being slayed....that is a warning. Action without warning would be an immediate ban. As Civil said, many people do not read chat for some reason and so end up not seeing admin warnings. After enough warnings the slays and bans must start happening to get people doing what they are supposed to...you apparently joined shortly after that point.
Different people consider different things over the line as far as verbal abuse goes. If people are getting their ass chewed because they aren't following the call or do something stupid to lose the round, I highly doubt the admins will do anything about it. If it's done in a manner meant to motivate the team, I doubt anything will be done about it. And lastly, alot of people like to talk shit...talking shit is accepted and expected...give as good as you get. If you think something is over the line, ask them to stop...if they don't, teamsay(u) @ hey admin, player x is out of line w/ the mic/verbal abuse.

Re: Grievance / Suggestion
I think RAWR has summed it up pretty nicely. Hopefully that helps clarify some things. When in doubt, you can always ask an admin in game by using team chat and putting @ (thats an at symbol AND a space) before your message.
