Thread: Just Disappointed

Hello gentlemen (and ladies if applicable),

I was referred to these forums by a player going by ZoranDaWicked (Battlefield 3 handle). He told me to come here if I had a questions about the actions he had taken. At first I figured I wouldn't even bother, but then I then I reasoned that I may actually be doing you all a disservice by ignoring the issue. So here's the story...

I (BF3 Handle: Truthmonger) and two of my friends Rockettrooper and numPI_Higgins were squadded up and playing together in your server ("TeamPlayerGaming.com BF3 + TeamSpeak Sync Ranked") tonight (4/11-4/12). We had been enjoying the 3+ hour experience greatly, and had several times remarked how much we like the server (and even added it to our favorites). Things were going just fine (even though our team had unfortunately lost two in a row), until Higgins got kicked. The reason given for his kick was that he needed to "push" the objective.

When he was kicked, we were engaged in a firefight on an objective that the opposing team was trying to take. (D on Seine Crossing if you're curious.) We would secure the area, and just as we started leaving we would have to turn around and come back to defend it from oncoming forces again. This pattern kept recurring, so yes, we had been there a while. But it wasn't camping and waiting for people to show up; it was legitimate defense. All three of us were there when he was kicked (with no warning, I might add). We all thought it was weird, but he jumped back in and we kept playing. But just a few minutes later he was banned, once again with no warning or attempt at communication, with the reason being that he needed to "push the objective."

All of us were angry. We were all playing together as a squad: why was he singled out? We were doing our best to tactically play the objective; we hate cheap campers as much as the next guy. If we were breaking a server rule (which to my understanding we weren't), why weren't we all kicked? And the biggest thing: why no communication? Higgins was doing quite well, actually saying he felt like he was playing his best game ever. He assumed he was kicked because he was doing well. (I'm not 100% sure of that because Zoran was on our team, but I was still confused.) The rampancy of "abusive" admins in BF3 is practically a meme, and that's what we all felt like was happening. Rocket immediately left in frustration, but I decided to stay and try to at least strike up a dialogue; I figured it couldn't hurt to ask why Higgins had been banned. Maybe it was all just a misunderstanding...

I was told tersely by Zoran (who according to Higgins was the guy that kicked him) that I'd need to take it up in an appropriate place the forums. And so here I am.

I've been a clan server and forum admin before, so I understand and respect you guys' right to do things in the way you think is right. But having been there, I also know that I would have never treated guests like that on my watch. I want to respectfully let you know that you've lost 3 fans this evening. There are plenty of servers out there, and my friends didn't even think it was worth the time to come here and say anything. But I have enough respect for you all to at least come and try to reasonably state my complaint.

It goes without saying that none of us plan on playing on any of your servers from here on out. I'm not trying to rage, I'm not even really angry at this point. Just disappointed. Take these words as you will...

PS: I didn't put this in the "ban appeal" forum because 1) I wasn't the one banned and 2) it's the way he was banned by the admin that bothers me.

Thank you for the honest reply. As you know, being an admin has it's up's and down's. I would like to say that I never kill/kick/ban for personal reasons. I'm an admin here because I live on the east coast and usually play late nights. Sometimes I'm the only admin on and things can get out of hand fast.

Here at TPG we strive to have the best teamplay servers as we can in all of our games. As an admin we are required to police the servers and make sure rules are followed. We also do not have to give any warnings for the actions we take. In this case, I had posted an admin message several times that players need to push objectives. Normally I will kill a player before any other type of action is taken. On this night and I remember the map well, we were losing and at least a dozen players on our side we just not giving an effort. The warnings were given and actions we taken. As far as higgens, yes I kicked him more then once and yes I temp banned him for 60 min. I only use this temp action if a player just keeps camping or not helping his team. I could not tell if your squad was in a firefight, but I could tell that the flag in that area was not blinking and the player in question was not moving. If I'm wrong I apologize. Again this is not a personal attack towards you or your friends. Heck, I've kicked regs that know better for not following the rules.

Sorry that you feel we are to strict here or treated you or your friends unfairly. I can also understand your anger. Yes there are other servers and TPG will always welcome you guys back here. Our community is stong and we make sure our servers are free of all the asshats.

Admin kick with Bogus reason of pushing to flag on Metro... Reconnect, got moved then kicked for no squad. This is the behavior of a loser with very week personality. The kick was 04/18/2013. Yes I called you out admin, I was right.

One more thing... when a player asks why he was kicked... answer.

You are not above anyone, just a server admin.
