Thread: BF3 Server Admin Killed Me - GET FLAGS

An admin killed me on your BF3 server with the reason, "GET FLAGS", around 9PM on 6/9/2013. I was on the server for a total of maybe 5 minutes and observed NO one else attempting to take the flag nearest the RU uncap. As well, there were plenty of US players shooting toward the uncap, enough to where it was difficult to approach the flag.

When you guys kill people for "GET FLAGS", are you manually doing this or is this an automatic server function? What's the parameters around "GET FLAGS"? Based on the gameplay I observed, most of the server should've been killed for the same reason. IMO, that's not really a good way to keep visitors, especially since DICE doesn't dictate how people play the game.

Here's a bit of constructive criticism: if you're going to be making up your own rules for your servers (ie, applying kills for things that DICE servers wouldn't normally do), at least link your rules of gameplay on the server's Battlelog entry so that your visitors know what to expect. I check server battlelog entries when I'm visiting a new server, just so I know the server rules. But, to be honest, this is a rather hokey (and seriously ambiguous) admin kill...I mean, really, WTF...I get killed by an admin because I refuse to attempt to enter a camp that is full of enemy? No warning or anything? And to top it off, no admin responds to my in-chat query.

So, I will ensure I don't visit your server again, but I thought that maybe you guys need to advertise your gaming style to avoid pissing people off.

This literally just happened to me about 20 minutes ago. I was sniping covering a flag; we had every single flag except one and I was killed by admin for "GET FLAGS". Ten minutes later i kill a guy with C4 and BAM instantly get kicked from the game. There was no foul play, I simply was playing the game just how any support player would and get kicked for it. So I reconnect and literally ask "why was I kicked?" Their response " We don't like you." Okay, first of all that is probably the stupidest reason and also if your admins are going to act like children and kick people for not liking them, then I am sure I will NEVER come back to this server again. Local Time 8:45, 6/9/13. If this helps at all, the guy I killed before I was kicked was Javed_War_God. If this server is going to have immature admins, I will make sure to stay off it and tell anyone I meet online to stay away, great first impression TeamPlayerGaming.

Thank you both for bringing this to our attention. We are in the process of reviewing the server logs and having a discussion with the admin responsible for the actions taken against you both. Once we have a better idea of what was going on from our side of things, we'll get back to you.

As a side note, Failosaurus, the "We dont like you" was not a response from any admin on our server. It would appear to have been a player just being a smart ass.

All actions taken were manually handled by the admin(s) present on the server at the time. We don't believe in enforcing rules by automation. You're right about one thing. DICE doesn't dictate how people play the game; however it is our prerogative to enforce whatever rules we see fit. Rule #1 on our server is "Pursue the objective or die trying." Hanging back in the uncap and not pushing the objective doesn't do anything for your team, but prolong the round and preserve your Kill:Death ratio. You were not the only person to have action taken against you in this case.

The rules are available by typing '!rules' in chat. Every player connecting to our server is notified of this via a message. You obviously missed this message. Our admins do not typically address inquiries in game, or if they do, they should direct you to bring your concerns here to the forum, which you have done.

I suspect that if you were on the winning team at the time you were kicked, you may have been caught in the crossfire of the admin cleaning house of campers and non-teamplayers. As I told mgc_busta_cap above, our admins don't typically address issues in-game. They typically refer you to the website. As I stated earlier, the person saying "We don't like you" was not an admin or even a regular player on our server. We try to have a positive playing environment that promotes team play first and foremost. I'm sorry that you had a negative experience on our server.

Ruling: No admin abuse.
