What is more teamplayer-like? Waiting for the round to end naturally (my version of your statement of sitting around doing nothing) and not flagging your commander for death.

You cannot compare your actions or lack thereof with the commander. You did wrong. The commander did not do enough. Doing wrong is active. Not doing enough is passive.

Message to Valve: Please Restore the Reload Animations

A Message to Valve: Please Restore the Left 4 Dead Reload Animations

    The Reload Animations:

Now I have seen plenty of posts on the internet about this topic; Ever Since I saw the very first game play videos of L4D Back in 2007 I was really excited to see that the weapons in L4D had complete reload animations, and I truly thought it added a more realistic feel to the game, and that it also made the game that much harder. In a horde of zombies surrounding you, if you are caught with no ammo, and need to reload, then you absolutely HAVE to stay with your team mates, otherwise (in expert) you would be dead almost instantly, that just backs up the very point of the game, to have an environment where the team mates must to stay together all the way through in order to even survive the whole map. I saw this take place in game play videos of the turtle rock (beta) version back in 2007, if just one person was caught somewhere alone, reloading, while surrounded by a horde, they were almost guaranteed to die. It would be even worse in a Tank spawn situation, like during a finale perhaps; if a tank was right near you, and you had those long reload animations, you would have no choice but to shoot shoot shoot at the tank, instead of running away and letting other team mates take care of it, which raises the need for more powerful weapons (rifle, auto shotguns). In the current public release version of L4D, reloading takes place almost instantly, because all you have to do is slap the magazine in the weapon and you are set. Having the Full reload animations in Left 4 Dead requires players to be playing more like team mates, and to make sure that they have cover, when they are reloading, yes it may take just a little bit longer to reload, but its sure realistic, and adds a new feel to the game, a more cooperative feel.

Edit: You can still see that the sounds for the reload animations are in the left 4 dead sound folder:

    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left4dead\left4dead\s ound\weapons\SMG\gunother

(sounds for Rifle, Sniper, Pistols, and SMG are existent.

Are you talking about when the player just slaps the mag in the weapon and continues on? Because I know thats all that happens when I play, besides when using the shotgun, and auto shotgun, those are the only two guns that have full reloading/cocking animations viewable in first person, atleast that I know, you can see them for every other weapon in third person, but none of those animations have sounds to go with them, so I am thinking they are just left over from when Valve took them out, they forgot to remove the Anims. in third person view(s), and they even left the sound files in there for each weapon too, which I found kind of weird.

It does look cooler when the had the full animations, but they removed them for a reason, you already panic when you have to reload and that's why they removed the full version, because it would take too long and that isn't fun.

Also I don't think it would affect teamwork much as I don't usually notice a teammate is reloading anyway, especially if I/They are being attacked.

Also you might want to call it the 'Cocking Animation' as it's kind of confusing otherwise, because the guns do have a reload animation.

There are much more things to worry about in L4D then the reloading animations, am I right?.
Personally, I don't care, but I think if they add them back in, they should keep the reloading time the same, but that would look stupid. Because you'd be like. Speed reloading. & no human could do that.
It's fine the way it is, leave it go.

Also, I kind of like L4D Beta better then the current L4D. :P Is that wrong?.
