    Don't believe in Global Warming?

    I tell you what.

Let's sit here and do nothing ya?

I mean surely if we cut carbon emissions and actually helped the planet cope that'd be good no?

Oh but that means DOING SOMETHING. So let's sit here argueing about it as the world, UNDENIABLY, warms up, weather systems change and shit goes all wrong.

We'll see who's right in 20..30 years a time when most, if not all, the people here will still be alive.

Sure, we'll be alive, however how will the quality of life be?

It (/he) might act kinda gay, and it might be an over simplified scenario, he makes a very valid point.

Instead of debating wether it's actually happening (in such a way it'd harm future life), we should do something, as it's the best option.
And, even if we aren't causing global warming we sure as hell are f*cking this planet over in some way. And what harm could there be in narrowing our pollution down? (besides the costs...)

It's hard to do something if you are just one person out of 300,000,000 people in the US or the 6 billion people in the world. No one cares about your own opinions.

But, I do try. All the light bulbs in my house are the energy savers. We rarely use our AC and Heater. We have 2 hybrid cars. Not much, but we're trying.

Yea but how many of those 300,000,00 in the US and many more world wide, also sit there going,

"what can I do? I'm only one person"

Still I guess it's kinda hard when damned governments won't stick to targets they set out and ideas they come up with.

Yeah, in this example, Pascal's Gambit is a good one. it's better to believe in it and do something, at least we'll get new technology out of it.

I think that is fucking retarded. I wish humans would apply that logic everywhere, our world would be fucked.

"Well, we don't know for sure if the Russians want to invade us, but we should just nuke them anyway just in case, k?"

No, if global warming is because of us, then it is too late to change it. Way too late. Too many people in our planet, combined with the amount of resources we use, equals impending suffering in the future regardless of whether or not temperatures are five degrees hotter. Crop failures, starvation, dehydration on a massive scale, etc. Our world can't sustain the population, it doesn't matter if you drive an H2 or not.

It amazes me how people get the conceited idea that they are going to "save the Earth." George Carlin said it best: "the Earth isn't going anywhere; we are."

We don't have the power to change the planet in every little detail. While adaptation of the environment to us is our greatest asset next to our intelligence, we cannot alter everything. We can destroy and we can create on a moderate level, but to completely cool the Earth just a few degrees to make it a bit more bearable to live on? No way Jose, not in this lifetime, or the next.

So get used to the fact that the world is changing. It is time that you learn how to adapt to the environment.

The world is changing because of us. It's so easy for you to say that because the Green House effects won't take place after your death.

I don't doubt that global warming has been accelerated due to pollution. In fact it's something I agree with, as I do with some of the proposals for cleaning up the environment a bit. But the fact is, even if you cut pollution output to zero, it's not going to stop global warming. It might dely it enough so that it'll be our great great grandchildren instead of our great grandchildren who will have to deal with its effects, but you're not going to stop it.
