Need New Smart Phone
I currently have the iPhone 3G S. I was going to upgrade to the iPhone 4 S, but I heard there were better phones out there. Any suggestions?

Re: Need New Smart Phone
Well, do you have a specific carrier in mind?
If Verizon (what I have experience with):
First: go with the form factor you like best (slide keyboard, candybar, flip of somesort)
Second: try to get a phone that has the operating system as close to PURE android as possible (google nexus is the only pure android experience of the latest phones) While you can remove lots of the junk the carriers put on the phones via hacks... they are just that, hacks.....
Third: BIG battery, extended battery or just a abnormally large one (make sure its on-brand, not off). Give this particular weight if you are getting a 4G phone, as 4G antennas eat it like a small bag of chips.
From all that I can tell you what I like the best.
I really really like hardware keyboards, so I would pick the "Droid 4" in a heartbeat. But if you don't care for one of those, go with the Galaxy Nexus (because of its pure android and google support). Or if you are afraid of samsung's hardware on the galaxy nexus, then go with the Droid Razr Maxx, and try to remove all the verizon junk apps.....-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Re: Need New Smart Phone
From what I've been reading, now is not the time to be buying a new smartphone. I'm currently in the market for a new phone and my Samsung Galaxy S Captivate, while serving me well, is starting to lag a bit :P
A bunch of new phones are coming out later this year. For instance, the Galaxy S III, One X, etc all which have updated processors and graphics chipsets. If you're an apple die hard fanboy, then the next iPhone is on the horizon as well. I'd say wait a bit.
If you HAVE to buy now, then I'd say the Skyrocket or the Note are great choices (assuming you're on ATT) or an off contract Galaxy Nexus. If you HAVE to get an iPhone then the 4S is still available.

Re: Need New Smart Phone
I'm on AT&T.
I'm no phone expert, which is why I'm asking here, but I'll try to list some things that I care about, below:
Processing Power (High): I don't want my phone to freeze, lag, etc., specially when I'm just trying to do basic things like unlock it or start up an application.
Internet Speed (High): Again, I'm no expert, but I've heard that the iPhone 3GS is slow compared to the non-Apple, newer phones on the 4G network. I also heard that the current iPhone 4S runs on 3G and not 4G.
Access to Mainstream and Common Applications (High): I want to have access to all the common applications you hear about, like Facebook.
Access to Uncommon Applications (Low): I don't need to have access to everything.
Flash Support (Moderate): It would be nice to be able to watch Flash stuff on my phone.
Ease of Use and Friendly User Interface (Moderate): It would be nice to not have to think too hard to figure out how stuff works.
Battery Life (Moderate): Just looking for something reasonable.
Cost Efficiency (High): I don't want to pay more money for a phone with weaker specifications/processing power.
Camera (Low): Seems like all the new phones are at least decent.
GPS (Moderate): It would be nice to have a GPS with voice on my phone.
Timing/Urgency (Moderate): I can survive with my phone, but it would be nice to get a newer, faster one.
Miscellaneous (Moderate): In case there was anything else I forgot or didn't know about.
Thanks for the help guys.I broadcast gaming videos on Twitch TV and my finished videos are on YouTube! Recently I shoutcasted the Counter Strike Tournament at PAX Prime 2012!
