Thread: Amazon Instant Video Sucks - Slow Streaming Speeds (don't waste your time or money)

So yeah, Amazon Instant Video sucks (at least for me). I have an awesome internet connection and computer, no problems with Netflix, YouTube, or anything else. It seems like Amazon just has really bad streaming speeds... don't waste your time or money with it!

When I signed up a couple years ago, it was flawless, never even a single drop in quality...but the last few months have been a different story. It hasn't always been like this and I hope with their user base expanding as rapidly as it is that they are working on their infrastructure. I have season passes to several big shows (breaking bad, walking dead, sons of anarchy, castle, big bang theory, burn notice) and their free show selection (sons of anarchy, doctor who, star trek, stargate, battlestar galactica) is pretty sweet. You are correct though; as of late their player has been crap. Surprisingly I only have these issues when playing from a browser. My brother has a roku and he doesn't ever get the hiccups and when I stream from my ps3 I don't have issues either.

It's something that only occurs in their HD selection, in browser (both firefox and chrome), and gets worse after consecutive episodes. I too have been investigating this issue here and there looking for solutions. It's a bug in the player that causes the quality to drop all the way to their lowest supported resolution almost at perfectly timed intervals.

I've tried restarting browser sessions, clearing web cache, updating versions, trying different browsers, switching PCs, tinkering with browser plug-ins...but to no avail...I'm hoping they address this issue soon

Tried it out today from my brothers roku and it streamed great without a hitch, it must be something with their in-browser player

havent tried roku - my family says its great though
running amazon instant video from my pc is terribad though - but got better after some time

Feels odd posting this from Amazon's office (yay interviews). I'm sure they are working on it, the real question is how is the show selection?
