The problem with the tank is 2 fold.

Firstly, players expect the tank to do everything. Secondly, the maps are way bigger now with lots of open spaces, reducing the tank to a game of hide and seek.

I do not believe that the tank should be used to rush into the survivors, especially if it's a large open area. The Tank has to work together with the SI to bring down the Survivors.

Too often, I've seen the rest of the SI Team spending more time watching the tank than actually trying to attack or distract/separate. The nerf on the melee weapons was a welcome change. Before that nerf, good Survivor players would actually charge the tank with melee weapons and kill it in 10 hits.

I don't think the Tank needs a buff, but I think there should be a relook at the tank and it's environment (wide open spaces) or where they spawn. Put the fear back in the Tank.

and I don't think he's weaker, at all. In fact I think he's stronger - but the circumstances are harder (more open areas, not 1 but 2 hindering throwables, better/stronger weapons, special ammo, etc. all this plays into how fast he goes down).
It pisses me off to no end when you fail horribly as the tank and your teammates are like 'LOL TANK FAIL' when they did absolutely nothing to help, just stood and watched...UGH.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but the wait time in tank is bigger for other players who die and try to spawn, so basically it leaves the tank alone. What has to be done is to throw stones from a roof and try to hit them, because when you are throwing a stone the tank timer stops and this gives the other SI an opportunity to respawn. Most people don't have patience to wait and just want to punch away, then they complain about the tank sucking so hard.

The problem is a good team can make the tank resort to hiding and throwing rocks.

If the team does this in a area where SI/rock throws can't reach them then the tank is forced to watch his rage meter dwindle and theres nothing he can do about unless he gets lucky.

I've always wanted the tank to be faster and have more health. But the more i think about it i'd rather his rage meter fill back up everytime he gets shot.

I don't think its fair to force this timer if they don't give you the speed to back it up with.

Ya they keep saying that they reduced the speed of the tank for VS because it would be unfair. But they never ran that by me 1st so i call zombie bullshit.

Bullets slow the tank down enough. SO if the tank is too fast SHOOT IT!.

Hell i've been chased around by a tank when i had 20 life left and could slow him down enough to avoid him by shooting double pistols.

IMO its all about the map and where the tank spawns in a highly experienced player game.

usually open maps just gets the tank dead without a hit. its a campfest where they block all spawns so SI cant do anything to help the tank. while rocks get shot out of the sky or just cant reach the survivors so the tank is rendered useless.

sometimes its a good, more closed spot but it highly depends on the SI hit and how big the hit is. and it depends if theres a car/dumpster to hit.

with really good players, the tank shouldnt be able to down all 4 survivors unless either he spawns close to a car and the survivors got no where to go, or a really good boom happens and they have no pipe bombs.

i do agree the tank is a bit slow. i also hate how bullets and the molly slows him down.

People are just so used to dealing with a tank now. I remember about a year ago after L4D1 had just come out, I had a go on Single PLayer, then this massive roaring gorilla zombie comes smashing through a wall. The first tank moment a player experiences, you can't help but go "Holy shit!" and backpedal while spraying at it wildly with the auto shotgun.
Now everyone knows how to kill the tank. Nobody worries that much when a tank is approaching. Heck, most people actually prefer being ordinary uncommon infected.
But fair enough. You can't plan an attack with a tank, or set up a good strategy nless your team is really working with you.The frustration meter ensures you'll have no other option but a mad dash at the survivors, hoping to cause some damage, but since now in L4D2 the campaigns are so open (which isn't a bad thing) tanks just become points buckets. I'd say, personally, the tank is a good distraction becuase at least, for a time, the survivors wll concentrate on the tank, which opens them to being smoked, charged or whatever.

I was playing versus yesterday and got the tank. I pwnd the survivors within 30 seconds because I tool my time and used the map to my advantage, screaming "get in there team" to get my team involved and distracting the survivors.

The map was the street bit in quartar (spelling?? Parish level 4) where the survivors have to jump down from the balcony. I scaled the fence and came up behind them, incapping survivors as i came across them. They didn't stand a chance, although this is down to me taking the time to get the survivors where I want them and my team harrasing and distracting them.

Although on a more open map the tank's effect is lessened so it is uber important that the rest of the infected team are on the ball and captalizing on the tanks appearace to assault the team.
