Re: Medics, what do you need your Pocket to do?
Dammit, Wats. I have work to do.
Heavy
You know you're my favorite, but sometimes you trot around like you don't even know I exist. Sure, those Engie buildings are shiny and will smash into a thousand bits to help reload Sasha. But keep an eye on your health as much as you watch your ammo. The only three things that can really quickly take down our dynamic duo in a "one-on-two" are a chain-stab, a headshot, or a random crit. Two words: Don't overextend.
Soldier
Keep your head on a swivel. You've got more than one life to look out for now, for better or for worse. If you jump away without telling me why, I'll run away to the nearest dispenser. Protip: Unless we have a corner or an Uber ready, we really can't take down a heavily guarded Engie nest. And never completely run out of rockets or shells in case you need to protect me—better to retreat, reload, and regroup.
Demo
I'm just tagging along with you for your glorious, 'splodey spam. Sure, I'll help you take out that sentry, but I'm not going to be your drinking buddy. Talk about taking out objectives and I might stick around. But if you're a mute DemoKnight, don't expect more than a buff, when I have the time that is.
Pyro
Keep running, I'm right behind you. Light things on fire. Oh, how they glow and crackle! Keep that flamethrower loaded. Extra points for airblasts off cliffs! Later, we can roast marshmallows and listen to Engie's bedtime stories.
Scout
Don't call for me across an open area on a map. You come to me. We all think you're kind of a prick anyway and you'll just draw attention to me, so get your buff and go be a pest somewhere else. And quit stealing my damn health packs when I'm diving for them. On fire. And at 5 HP.
Other Medics
Let's keep each other buffed when we cross paths. It only makes sense.
All Other Classes
I'm buffing you as I run past to help build my Uber. Much like your first real girlfriend in high school, I will ditch you as soon as something better comes along.Happiness is a roiling fermenter.

On a not really related note, if you are working on airshots (kind of a useful all around skill, but not a make/break one for pocketing) I found this map tr_flinger_b2
GameBanana: tr_flinger_b2 (Maps > Team Fortress 2 > Other/Misc > tr_flinger_b2)

that I enjoy. Just flings bots up to mimic badlands and gpit last. Not as useful as some serious MGE practice, but I find it relaxing to play. Been working on landing pipes and airshotguns.

Re: Medics, what do you need your Pocket to do?
agree with MPB, hat or no heals.
other than that most everything is about positioning. know chokes, how to play chokes, being able to spam spots while medic can heal you without taking a single dmg point. thats the main thing with new pockets... they arent sure how to play spots while maintaining a safe position for the medic. then quickly move through the open areas to the next safe spot.
tl;dr spam from safe spots and head on a swivel. or would it be mouse on a swivel

Hollllllly shit, no one else said this?
I have played a bit of medic, strayed later in my days but hot damn, if I get hit with a trap the rage meter goes up 87% and you are not likely to get heals unless you are designated pocket...... A sticky trap is one thing if I get splashed, a blatant baited sticky trap where you (a pocket) lives and I die..... fml
