Re: Enforcer nerf being tested in Beta
Allow me to summarize the pyro gun:
Cons
- No random crits
- No airblast
Pros
- Taunting refills health and has 90% damage resistance during taunt
- Taunting also takes 2 seconds, while the average taunt takes ~4 seconds
- Noticeably lower risk of death during taunt, compared to a regular taunt
- Crit boost is ~10 seconds
- More than an 8 second kritzkrieg uber!
- 221 fire damage (afterburn included!) fills the bar, compared to:
- 350 damage received for Battalion's Backup
- 600 damage dealt for Buff Banner
- 1133(!) damage dealt/633 received for Concheror
Sure, an airblastless pyro is not as useful in some respects, but I'd be hard-pressed to say that the weapon isn't obnoxious and unbalanced in its current form. It's Enchanted Broccoli Forest time!

Re: Enforcer nerf being tested in Beta
While it is stupid and powerful its not much to be afraid of. If you see a pyro taunting, back up and wait, there is nothing he can do but try and close the distance. Every other class can out range him, if you get the distance when he is taunting, you can easily do the 175 damage before he can get close enough to do any.
Its not as bad as say the Ambassador which penetrated targets, shot through gates, had a huge hitbox, and minicrit as fast as you could shoot on release. The Sydney Sleeper also penetrated targets and random crit on release. Both of which were much harder to counter and prevent then this flamer thrower, while it is annoying, its easy to avoid.
Basically, it will probably get nerfed, but Valve has fucked up worse before.Last edited by insanegammer109; 01-29-12 at 07:07 PM.

Fixed.
In addition, having a full charge and having your feet on the ground is apparently not enough to use the crits. I've died many times while mashing M2 with a full charge that just wouldn't do anything for some reason. I haven't been able to figure out what the missing factor is (on the ground for some amount of time? Not shooting flames for some amount of time? IDK).
And to explain why the 90% damage resistance is necessary: If there was no damage resistance, you would have 2 seconds to deal 175 damage, that's about 90 DPS. Here are the classes that can deal at least 90 DPS, without crits and vanilla weapons only:
Scout
Soldier
Pyro
Demoman
Heavy
Engineer
Medic
Sniper

Re: Enforcer nerf being tested in Beta
If your really smart you can still deal with the pyro at close range. Me (medic) and a soldier were trapped in a room when he taunted so we just unloaded needles and melee into him and by the time he was finished taunting it took just 1 more hit to finish him off. Gotta love 40 needles doing 1-2 damage point blank
