What's the sollys think about the new melees, equalizer (dmg) vs escape plan (speed)? And which do you plan to use?

Before that though, what do you think about how they effect the soldier? Personally, I'll forever miss the equalizer with it's perfectly, and yet biasly, balanced stats. As much as I don't want to admit, I give a "good job" to Valve. A good balanced item...

Gotta use the escape plan now though. I never used the EQ for it's damage. The damage was more like a perk. Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, the EP still does normal melee damage. Which means it will still do alot of damage on those random crits.

Im going with the escape plan. I use it mostly for getting out of bad situations or catching up with a medic. Like vulcan the damage was nice when you couldnt escape anyway.

I like the look of the EQ but I really have to go with the EP, the speed is why I used the EQ before not the damage.

Sure, for individual combat they may be a "balanced tradeoff." Choose one and you might get a funny melee kill, choose the other and you might get to extend your life. On a random server you might find a lot of people who choose the former. Here, I'd expect the latter to be the obvious choice. Nine times out of ten, staying alive will help your team more than getting a melee kill. If anything I'd say having the new equalizer out incentivizes the player to be careless when already in a bad situation (low health) and should be retreating.

All I have to say is I like the EP more than I ever liked the EQ other than the new EQ skin being cool, just having the reliable damage at all times is IMO better than the scaling which always felt a little gimmicky to me.
