Thread: Thoughts on doomsday? (and possible removal?) :D

I can't stand doomsday's game mode, and the map isn't all that great to me either. I'd love to see it removed from map options so I won't have to try and rtv every single time the server goes onto doomsday.

I enjoy it now and then. The map is more interesting than it first seems.

For me it's a nice distraction, and I like to switch things up occasionally. I think a few rounds of Doomsday on a well-primed server is fun.

There can be a downside: apparently, lots of players don't know how it works. It's a pain in the ass when 7 people know what's up and 11 people are clueless.

If it's an actual server-killer, then the choice is clear.

But aren't "nominate", "rtv", and the presence of admins enough?

I agree. Sometimes you can get burnt out playing the same maps over and over. Besides, if people do not know what to do, then do the TPG thing and try to help them understand. Doomsday has a weird strategy so many newer players need that adjustment. It may seem like a pain in the butt to RTV. If players are bailing like rats on a sinking ship and RTV isnt getting participation then maybe ask an admin to do a quick map change vote.

On paper is sounds like fun, but the only map for it is poorly designed. Maybe if they released more of it, but it looks like Valve gave up on it which is indeed a shame :[

I'd have no complaints if we got rid of it.
