    Class stacking.

OMFG this is so annoying, "hey team, can some of you switch out of engineer? we already have 5 of them." , "Fuck you man engy is the only class i play."

This game is called TEAM Fortress for a reason. There are 9 different classes for a reason. Learn to diversify a little. For example, whenever i join the server, the FIRST thing I do is look at what classes we have, then pick the one that isn't taken or has the least of. Especially true for medic if the team doesn't have one yet.

My rule of thumb for a stacked class is when there are 3 people playing it. But this number varies by class and by map. 3 is tolerable, and even favored on offense/defense only maps like dustbowl or certain permutations of Hydro, where you want to have a lot of defensive characters if you're on the Defense side or vice versa. But 3 is still pushing it.

Stacking a class doesn't help the team, and it doesn't help your score. Example: Having multiple snipers means that the you have multiple people filling the same role, so you are competing against eachother for kills, and in the end you get half as many kills as you would if there was only one sniper. The team loses as well because one sniper can usually do the job of many snipers, and its just wasted manpower.

I usually am near the top of the scoreboard because I diversify my class selection, I always fill a role that is needed, and I never have to compete against teammates for kills/points. This game favors team play, just look at your assist count compared to your kill count the next time you play.

The classes that i usually see get stacked are engineer, spy, and sniper. I like to think I'm a pretty good engineer, but if that class is stacked, or even close to stacked I fill another role the team needs immediately. I check to see if my current class is stacked every time I die, and whenever there is downtime when I'm alive.

If you don't want to be so OCD about it, or are still new to the game, just simply ask the team what class the team needs, and on TTP there is always going to be a response.

agreed, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of people (on all the servers) that seem to "stack classes"
There should be no more than 2 of everything in my opinion.

agreed; if your on defense on say...hydro or sumthin like that i guess 3+ engys are ok....then agian maybe not...i usually role all attack classes/demoman b/c people tend to never have enough of those classes.

    Re: Class stacking.

I personally hate the Spy stackers....especially the ones that are only in it for the backstabs.....ie they don't handle the sentrys for the team. Stacked engineers NEVER win....an uber rocket or two and possibly a couple heavies will rape. Especially if they stagger them and the medics know thier job. :10

I'd rather have 12 good engineers then 12 awful soldiers or whatever they are playing.

I wouldn't. Because 12 good engineers still won't have an offense.

    Re: Class stacking.

I just get sick of the spies when we have 2-3 or more and the enemy still keeps their sentries... If you're not disabling their structures... what the hell are you doing as a spy?

Other than that, everyone can be whatever they want as far as I care. As long as they do their job. I haven't seen it get out of hand on our server.

    Re: Class stacking.

I usually play spy since they're my favorite class. If there already are 2 spies, then I'll pick another class. If I'm one of the first to connect and there are no spies, I'll pick that class. If no one's asking me to get rid of sentries, I'll try to look for the medics. I try to kill them before they can get an uber charge up. I'll do whatever I can to wreck some carnage, so the other team can't mount an offensive attack to cap etc.

    Re: Class stacking.

I've had some issues with class selection. People usually listen and choose something more beneficial to the team. When they don't I repeat the same thing louder, and generally with more cussing. They'll switch if you ride their ass. :9

I'll only choose spy if I'm the first one. If there's a second I'll switch to something else unless that spy is working with me. Sap/stab tag team works great for taking down an engineer and his sentry.

I'd like to see the spies coordinate with the team more. Let us know what you're up to, and help us push by disabling sentries. Don't try and take them down on your own if it's going to be a serious challenge and certainly expose you. Sapping disables the sentry so that your teammates can take it out with no risk.
