Re: 2/28 TF2 Update ~5PM
I think it will really make Soldiers a more defensive class IMO. Most of the Soldier fan base will be so worried about ammo they won't leave the general area of a supply crate or a dispenser with fear of running out of ammo. I assume that eventually the more hardcore players will adapt and move up but I can see most of us chewing out many a soldier in the near future thats somewhat over worried about ammo. As for Demo man it depends. If I'm on last point at Dustbowl I won't really worry that much about my ammo but I'll be tricking myself a lot as I'm usually running for ammo at 16 lol making that max makes it feel strange. But I'm not too overly worried really I just think this really calls for medics being able to see their targets ammo count that way if Cleric spams 20 or so nades I can see it and tell him to grab some ammo as he may not pay attention. Generally I ask my target how he's doing on ammo but medics being able to see this would really help IMO.

I hope this makes the Engineers realize how important the dispensers really are. Even if people didn't need ammo - the lack of people playing Medics means that Dispensers can be a critical build - more important than any. Hell - build your Sentry Gun with the idea that you're not only protecting an area, but protecting your dispenser. Don't just build crap to prop your Engineer up on some roof somewhere where you can build a f'in SG that is ineffective at best.
okay </end rant>
In all seriousness - I like these changes. I think Consultant said it exactly right when he said that it's just something people need to get used to.
Besides -think about it - with the reserves - how many of you who play Soldier a lot EVER run out of ammo when you stay on the move?
Even as tight as I have to watch ammo as a Heavy, if I stay on the move, I can usually keep enough ammo up to defend myself as I waddle my way around the map. Only real problem I have is with heat rashes between my thighs from trying to move too fast.

What really killed it for me is Granary. I'm sure some of you have seen that I rocket jump my way to the middle point, and I get there only 5-6 seconds after the scouts. When I do that now I get there with half of my ammo or less.
