Basically this.
If I do develop something it'll be for the android first, because I have to acquire a "real" Mac to release anything for the iphone. Androids SDK is open and legal for me to use, and runs fine on Linux and to a lesser extent freeBSD (OSs I do most of my work in).
Apple would not approve anything that I compiled on my hackintosh if I submitted it to the app market at this time. I have the SDK and OS X running on a non-Apple PC so I can play all day, but until I fork over the cash for a brand spankin' new Mac I can't release anything to the public.
Blackberry phones would be covered by the android app compatibly that they've promised, although if that turns out to be a pipe dream or no good I can always port it over to the RIM platform myself.
While I have an android phone that I love to death I also like the iphone and RIM, I'm not trying to have a bias towards one or the other. But I can only develop applications for things I currently have access to and I can only release what I'm legally able to release.
Right now I'm only actively developing for android because I have a phone for testing (emulators only go so far) and I don't have a "real" Mac to write code on. Also, in my humble opinion android is going to be the smart phone in most people's pockets in a couple of years. It's going to be the common mans smart phone, with the iphone holding a large niche and the blackberry getting whatever is left over. If you follow that line of thinking developing for android first is the way to go.
I can get a hold of an iphone or blackberry for testing, but getting a new computer just to write iphone apps is a little out of my budget atm. Thankfully I have a friend that might be able to lend me one of his aging Macs until I can afford my own. He's a Mac nut that's been trying to convert me for about 4 years now, so no doubt he'll jump at the chance.
I'm just seeing if there is any interest at this time. Also, it might be easier just to scrap the whole idea and use something like tapatalk. I was mainly interested in writing one myself because I need the experience and an active user base means a ton of vocal bug testers.
Thanks for the input and voting on the poll, it has been helpful.

Yea, I was thinking I might scale this back to be just a chat box app at first. Combined with something like tapatalk it would cover almost everything.
I think the best way to go will be keeping this small at first. Perhaps a simple app for using the chat box and checking your PMs/visitor messages is a good place to start. Get these things working bug free and move on to adding something else.
Chatbox functionality would be really cool. Would that be feasible?
