Thread: How to play Engineer

Some really good tips in there. I recommend it to anyone who needs the help at playing engy.

I've really got to work on metal conservation. Always keep 50? Yikes.

I like the offensive engee part. Defensive is pretty straight forward. Offensive, though, especially when a tele is need would be great to master. Usually on offense my sentry just covers my dispenser and recovering teammates.

I can't stress the reserve metal on dustbowl enough. It's better to have a level 2 sentry that you can repair, than a level 3 that gets easily destroyed in the first wave (not talking about ubers)

I'm disappointed... I know teleports are kind of strait forward but he doesn't even touch the issue. He could explain that hiding a teleport exit in a sneaky place (like the lvl 1 sentry on offence) can get your team REALLY close to the battle but risks destruction, while a further back one will survive for a while but not get you as close. He really should have covered all of the aspects of engineering.

And on the subject of teleporters....

He should have covered how they are more important than sentries and dispensers on some maps (mainly offense / defense ones). Sentries will go down; it's more important to have a way to get your respawning teammates back to the point as quick as possible.

Good points on teles. Teles are support important when defending at places such as the first 2 spots in dustbowl and granary. Heavy's take forever to run places, and they are arguably the best defensive class.
