Well I have 1 gig of RAM and I close all programs before playing, like EVERYTHING. Also, my settings are set to the lowest possible

Go to task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) without TF2 running BUT with all your other programs closed like you would do right before you run TF2.

Go to the performance Tab
There is "PF Usage" meter, a "Physical Memory" area, and a "Kernel Memory" area. Post those numbers (1 + 2 groups of three). The numbers will be constantly changing so don't worry about typing them exactly. Or you can post a screenshot if those numbers are all readable in your screenshot. Whatever is easier.

The point of this exercise is to see how much RAM is available for TF2 when you go to launch it.

OK, so..
PF usage says 365-370 mb in the box on the far left.

Physical memory is giving me numbers in between these:
Total 1047792
Available 541000 - 544000
System Cache 533000 - 534000

Kernel Memory:
Total 111120 - 111140
Paged 92330 - 92350
Nonpaged 18808

*Just a note, before launching the game i usually check the processes tab to see what is using the most memory and what's necessary to be running, if i find anything that isn't usefull (that i'm running, not the system) i'll end the process.

Hmmm it seems ok.

You may want to bring this up in the pc hardware and tech forum to see if they have any ideas of what's going on.
