mic problems

So i got a new mic but seem to still be getting the " GAH Texan " response when I talk.

not all the time mind you last night no one said anything but the night before I had to type the whole time.

tips suggestions ?

Hmm... well, there's the usual driver updates, and making sure that your mic levels are adjusted properly in Windows and in-game. Does your mic work all the time in other games, and what sound card are you using?

I have a creative X-fi and the steam/vista combination do not get along with it at all. I work fine in all other programs.

It took me weeks of updates and trying old drivers and everything I could think of before I finally just plugged my mic into my motherboards sound. So my speakers are all through my sound card, but my mic is through my motherboard.

I know, stupid...but it let me talk and game and in that game it is easier than trying to type. Without a mic I wanted to die in tf2.

Hopefully that'll work for you. Not being being able to use your mike is a living hell. You see a spy, but if you take the time to type Spy the sabotage/back stab will have occurred. So, you have to try and kill the spy hoping others notice.
