Thread: Free TF2 this weekend only

last night when i was playing we had 5 pyros and 0 medics for a bit and 1 of the pyros actually said they were only here for the achievements. really got on my nerves.

And that falls under the detriment to the team category, and an admin needs to be notified immediately. We have forums, and steam PMs for a reason. Utilize them.

I completely disagree. A team with a lot of pyros, and a team with a lot of medics(when talking about achievement whoring) are much different. When Iron updated the servers yesterday, and everyone packed in the reg server to test out the new achievements, my team had about 6 or 7 pyros on offense and defense, we wrecked the D on offense, and held our own on defense. Do you know what it's like to not be able to move without being set on fire? It sucks, and causes mass chaos for the opposing team.

I think a lot of people look at a team with a lot of pyros, and instantly, it's "OMG, pyro whores!" But, if they are playing the class like they should, then there's no reason why a team can't have half the team playing the class. If they're being teamplayers, like our team was yesterday, then let them be. If they aren't, call them out for being achievement whores, and get the admins attention through admin chat, or make a quick post in the forums if one is not on. Achievement whoring to the detriment of the team is unacceptable, but that doesn't mean that a few more pyros on the team is going to be detrimental as well.

I would agree with you on any weekend but this one. Its not a coincidence why there is a sudden burst of pyros on each team. Achievements. I look it as selfish and not being a teamplayer to come into the server, choose a team, and become the sixth pyro on the team. It might be chaos for the other team but I cant tell you how many times my shit was sapped by a spy and I was backstabbed while half of the pyros are going around trying to axe a heavy or bounce a projectile halfway across the map.

I have already suggested a class limitation option in the admin mod forum just for weekends like this. Just times like this though. These update weekends are ripe with plenty of achievement whores and winning or not, its really just crapping on the atmosphere of a great place to have fun and play TF2. In the hour or two I played last nite I saw people blatntly saying theyre just in there for the achievements. Ive seen people come in and leave because of the whoring. Ive seen regulars get pissed and leave (me included).

You are right, we can just keep pestering the admins for these people but you would almost need a field marshal full time in Spectator mode to police the server this weekend. It would be better just to have the option to limit the class thats being updated for these later releases to weed out the people on the server just for achievements so the admins can have more time to contribute to the team and to take care of other matters (grievers, non-teamplayers, people in these precious limited class spots that are there just for achievements, etc...)
