Free TF2 this weekend only

Hey guys, If this has been posted before I couldn't find it.
Apparently as of Friday 11am PST thru midnight Sunday, TF2 download is free thru steam with access thru this weekend. Obviously everyone here has it already, but its a good chance for your friends and clanmates to try this out for free. I'll be giving it a try myself.

Finally, to give everyone a chance to try the new weapons and community maps, Valve will hold another Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend via Steam beginning this Friday at 11 am PDT.

My apologies for not seeing this mentioned in the Pyro update post, oh well ,remind all your buds.

I actually found some interesting mods for TF2 to play when I just want to dick around. I loved surf maps in CS and now they have come to TF2 so I might just hit those up this weekend...

One thing Ive noticed between TF2 and CS is the helping nature of teammates. Ive found that TF2 teammates are more than willing to help out with strategy or classes or tips, but in CS its a different story. Thankfully I have years of pre-CS:S under my belt so it was easy to pick back up but man... some people are just ruthless. Sorry if I dont know the 7 codenames for the different calls like 'sneaky' and 'banana'... And God forbid you accidentally get in someone's way in a narrow hall...

*phew* Sorry, my rant is over. Im still agitated by this pyro whoring...

$100 says that the TTP admins break the console with Pyro warnings and bans this weekend. It was bad enough last night, now add thousands more people that just want to jackoff with the new toys.

Have you looked at the servers right now? I'm praying the admins get off work early. Lot's of no names on there. Normally that would be a good thing (new blood and what not), but with the new Pyro unlocks...

that, and let people who ACTUALLY PLAYED PYRO BEFORE THE UPDATE, AND DON'T JUST WANT THE NEW GUNS!! okay, my rant is over. I'm just pissy because i haven't been able to play pyro since the update, since there's about 6 on each team. And i can't break out my shiny new axtinquisher, since it sucks vs. pyros.

i guess its not that big of a deal for me since I have a pretty decent foothold in playing most of the different classes. The class I feel that im best at (spy) is actually at half the playtime of engineer for me. So I dont think the spy update would affect me either.

I completely disagree. A team with a lot of pyros, and a team with a lot of medics(when talking about achievement whoring) are much different. When Iron updated the servers yesterday, and everyone packed in the reg server to test out the new achievements, my team had about 6 or 7 pyros on offense and defense, we wrecked the D on offense, and held our own on defense. Do you know what it's like to not be able to move without being set on fire? It sucks, and causes mass chaos for the opposing team.

I think a lot of people look at a team with a lot of pyros, and instantly, it's "OMG, pyro whores!" But, if they are playing the class like they should, then there's no reason why a team can't have half the team playing the class. If they're being teamplayers, like our team was yesterday, then let them be. If they aren't, call them out for being achievement whores, and get the admins attention through admin chat, or make a quick post in the forums if one is not on. Achievement whoring to the detriment of the team is unacceptable, but that doesn't mean that a few more pyros on the team is going to be detrimental as well.
