Spying dying out?

I remember the first few month there was always a spy or 2 on each time but now when i look there is very rarely a spy and if there is they normally stop after alittle while. I feel that as the game went on everyone came to know the spy techniques and its rendering them slightly useless. Engineers just know to shotgun people near their stuff, pyros just burst people, etc. Its needed as much either. Demos, pyros, and soldiers can take out buildings in most instances and snipers have gotten better and better at taken out the key or more dangerous classes. I think valve needs to do something with the spy for their update. Just my 2c. Whats ur thoughts?

Spy checking has become such a standard fare that it is a much harder class to play, and only played when necessary I think.

I don't know. There are quite a few that can play spy effectively. It just so happens that this is Pyro month and everyone is taking a break. There have been times in the past few months where I have dominated a game as a spy. You just have to know when to strike. Wait for the action to get going and stab the medic/heavy. You kinda have to wait for them to get distracted, but no there is no easy spy anymore and I am glad for it. It's a thinking mans class now.

The only reason i dont play it that much anymore is because we are usually desperately in need of something else.

Spying (on TTP) is taking a break.

On other servers though it hasn't. I can still spy it up on other servers when both Top5 and main are full. Not everyone is as thoughtful as the regs on TTP.

Its tough to play spy a lot on a server with good players like TTP. I usually go spy for a little bit when I notice our team hasn't had one in awhile, and the map is conducive to spy play. Like well or granary. Goldrush is actually decent for spies too.

I sort of would like to see the spy get back his tranquilizer gun from QWTF, but I know it would get real annoying on the other side being shot with it.

Thanks. There are still some tricks of the trade that havent come into the light of the general public. Like a few said, the copious amount of pyros has brought the spy class to slow but eventually it will be back up. You have to remember that playing in TTP is different than pubbing it up. On TTP you usually have 6-8 players on each team that are good, work as a team, and know how to counter some of the special tricks brought at them from any class. On pubs you would be lucky to find 2 or 3. This means that you are always kept on your toes and conditioned to play better.

Dont worry, the good spies can still rock some shit.
