Just A Tidbit On Arena Maps

I caught this last nite. Unlike sudden death, if an engineer dies, his buildings (mainly his sentry) still stay alive. I think they kept that in to give the player incentive to pick that class when the rounds are so quick.

Didn't know this. This makes Engineer pretty powerful on most of the arena maps.

Yeh I noticed that last night while I played engy.

Engy is great on the well and granary arena map. You can run up to the point and build on your side quickly to cut down scouts that come in.

I am having trouble formulating an engy strategy for lumberyard though. That building is so small that classes just come up and pummel you and your gun. And building outside the building doesn't seem to help cap mid very well.

Im thinking getting a sentry up outside and baiting enemies into it.

I think engis are important to arena maps than any other mode because the have Dispensers, which can really help since there are no healthpacks.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

Yeah I agree, that dispensor is just as important as a sentry on an arena map. And if you can find a place to hide it that your team knows about, it's a hidden heath pack just for your team that will hopefully stay alive for a while after the engy's possible death.

the only thing different from arena and regular is no respawn.

That in itself makes you try to survive more/coordinate with your team better.

The maps only last about 10 minutes anyways since they are so fast. Its a little intermission between the big maps that take an hour sometimes to play.
