Ranking Question....

Hello all,

I was just reviewing the stats for fun and saw I finally made it into the top 100, yay. Anyway, I noticed that Evil Monkey has been at the top of the list for at least the last month, and his position hasn't really moved. It's slowly going down but....he hasn't played for at least 30 days right? Once you get to the top I guess your position is pretty well cemented in or what?

Just wondering.

oh, and it's good to see no one is threatening my top awards for suicide the most....I AM THE KING OF SUICIDE!

Basically it is who you kill and how skilled they are. It tries to predict "If these two players went head to head, who would win the majority of the time"

It is completly arcane and not very useful. It is meant to work in CSS where skill is a lot easier to quantify.

Psychostats for TF2 are a little silly as they don't take things like caps or healing points into consideration.

*shrug* I really don't care about stats that much. The only one I do care about is that I am the #2 heavy on the servers.

Yes, but what I'm saying is shouldn't the ranking be updated more frequently; when for example, a player hasn't been on the server for a month or two and he's still in the top 10?

Thing is, since he has been gone no one has killed him. Thus his rank only slowly sinks because that is what PStats takes into account.

all throughout the stats are people who haven't played in a long time but remain about where they are...

i think it owuld be nice if they got removed after a certain time of inactivity

This is as it should be. It allows us to compare ourselves to the greats of yesterday, in so much as pstats can be used to compare.

He stopped by, wrecked shop, and currently sits at number 2. Timikoy hasn't played in forever, either.

The ELO rating system is supposed to kinda top out at 3000 skill. That's not to say you can't go over 3000, you can, but 3000 is kinda top-of-the-game. TF2 is showing this nicely, but the Counter-Strike PStats has people over 10,000 now. Something must be off in the formula.
