Detroit Red Wings

For some reason this topic always reminds me of a joke...

A pirate captain is out at sea on his ship, when his first mate runs up to him and says, "Sir! An English Navy ship is approaching us! What should we do?" The captain thinks for a moment and replies, "Ready the cannons, and fetch me my red shirt." The first mate nods and runs off to carry out his orders. The pirates easily defeat the English ship and sail away.

The next morning, the first mate runs back to the captain and says, "Sir! Three more English Navy ships are on the horizon and heading our way! What should we do?" The captain thinks for a moment and says, "Tell the men to prepare for battle, and fetch me my red shirt." The first mate nods and runs off to carry out his orders. The fight is long and brutal, but in the end the pirates win.

After the fight, the first mate asks the captain, "Sir, why is it that whenever we're about to get into a fight, you ask me to bring you your red shirt?" The captain replies, "I wear the red shirt so that if I'm wounded in battle, my men won't be able to tell, and therefore, won't lose their nerve." The first mate nods, thinking this to be a very wise tactic.

The next day, the first mate runs up to the captain and says, "Sir! Eight English Navy ships are approaching us from the east, and fast! What should we do?" The captain swallows, thinks for a moment, then says weakly, "Tell the men to prepare for battle, and fetch me my brown pants."

Jokes like that make me want to join whatever team you're not on.

That's a funny question, because I'm halfway through a paper on the Communist Manifesto.
