I know TTP has always stood by its "vanilla" TF2 gameplay, but is there even a chance, however remote, of having the sandman blocked or banned from both TTP servers? I think everyone is pretty much in agreement that Valve dropped the ball (no pun intended) with this one.

Im not sure if theres anyway to do this. What would it do if you came into the server with it equiped? Would it auto switch you to the normal bat or would it just kick you? I dislike how it makes people who are godawful as a scout dangerous cause they can stun you at point blank and then take time to line up there FAN instead of swinging around like a crazed platapus flailing around and failing to hit anything. Skilled scouts are dangerous enough but now that an unskilled player can stun anyone and either kill or almost kill it makes the class rediculus. At the same time I think it makes less fun with so many unskilled players running around. I have had multiple nights on TTP where iv had a 10/1 KD ratio because of all the people dicking around. It really sucks the enjoyment right out of the game...

Seriously though, thats all most scouts seem to do is hit the ball at random, and if it hits someone, its like instant death. The stun times just way too long. I would not be against a ban of the Sandman.

I'm pretty sure it can be done with a server side script that just removes the sandman and replaces it with the normal bat if someone equips it.

There's a thread about it here.

Also, the thread above mentions changing to stun time to 0, essentially removing the effect but leaving the bat in game. Might be a simpler solution than mucking about with a complicated script.
