lol - the only reason I dominated you is because I got too rushy and pushed past my soldiers enough to get kills on offense. Again, NOT my job, lol.

No I don't think it would be easier, or less tactical, I just think it would at least ease t he aggravation of '2 scouts, I'm dead' no matter WHAT FUCKING CLASS I PLAY.

Scout, Soldier, demoman, heavy to a lesser extent, medic, fuck even pyro. Urgh

I used to think I was at least mediocre at TF2, then we[ATRAP, I decided to port this directly from my post in the atrap forums] started playing heavily into the pugs and I realized I'm probably not cut out for the competitive scene. I get scatterbrained way to easily. I can't seem to focus on one target. I CONSTANTLY lose you guys in the thick of battle, and even sometimes during setup. And above all, I'm no longer having fun when thats all thats going on. Whats worse, is that I nearly NEVER get these problems when I'm playing on a normal 10~12 player team!

I really hate how when one thing works, everyone has to latch on to it like flies on a freshly laid cowpie with pre-laid fly eggs. 6v6 really isn't that great of a format. It's plagued by clear cut class formations with no room for error. It takes away from WHY tf2 is such a great game: diverese class choices with room for just about any strategy you can come up with. Honestly, since when have you seen someone seriously play a team setup that Wasn't 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, a demo and a medic? Maybe with someone changing to heavy at the last cap. If you can think of one, whens the last time you saw them climb the ranks in a tournamenT?

Ahhhh. So this is called Friday Night Fight with class limitations.

Easy enough, now just find yourself a moderator to run it. Make a config that restricts class numbers and you're all set.

Despite the hatred for Gravel Pit, this is why I think it is one of the best scrim maps. The attack/defend dynamic allows teams to explore many more different class combinations.

Though I like 5-pt CP, especially Granary and Freight, I think insisting on Granary/Badlands/Well over and over again is detrimental to the competitive scene. Of course no one changes up the classes when you play the same game every time.

Admittedly, many attack/defend maps tend to stalemate in competitive play. But surely there are some out there that are worth trying. I think we would see a lot more varied classes in that case.

Agreed, we really need more A/D maps like gpit for this reason...tons of fun strats to use. Junction is horrible unfortunately, and I liked cp_broma but it never got any traction like some of the other customs.

Eh, we have already tried this, its called Friday Night Fight. Why did they seemingly fade away, too? They were pretty fun...

On the topic of the question, I don't quite know about always 2 Soldiers, 2 Scouts, 1 Demo and 1 Medic. I've been on a gather (haha) that was 2 heavys, 1 sniper, 1 scout, 1 Medic, and 1 Demo. So I think you just have to ask your team to use different strats, at least in pugs. Also, what I've noticed, is that pugs / scrim format games really help you skill wise. In public servers such as TTP, people rely on their team mates a lot more then in a pug, where for the most part it requires 1v1 combat and more teamwork. When I logged on ttp for the first time in about a month, I suddenly could kill things with Demoman at ease, whereas before, I couldn't do anything.
I dunnoI was more attack defend maps like Gpit, because I ...dislike... Gpit. (Because whenever I play it, I don't do nearly as good as I do on 5 pt cp maps.

Anyway, we could always set up the FnF's again, 'twas fun.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"
