Re: You Know.....
Despite the hatred for Gravel Pit, this is why I think it is one of the best scrim maps. The attack/defend dynamic allows teams to explore many more different class combinations.
Though I like 5-pt CP, especially Granary and Freight, I think insisting on Granary/Badlands/Well over and over again is detrimental to the competitive scene. Of course no one changes up the classes when you play the same game every time.
Admittedly, many attack/defend maps tend to stalemate in competitive play. But surely there are some out there that are worth trying. I think we would see a lot more varied classes in that case.

So I think you just have to ask your team to use different strats, at least in pugs. Also, what I've noticed, is that pugs / scrim format games really help you skill wise. In public servers such as TTP, people rely on their team mates a lot more then in a pug, where for the most part it requires 1v1 combat and more teamwork. When I logged on ttp for the first time in about a month, I suddenly could kill things with Demoman at ease, whereas before, I couldn't do anything.
I dunnoI was more attack defend maps like Gpit, because I ...dislike... Gpit. (Because whenever I play it, I don't do nearly as good as I do on 5 pt cp maps.
Anyway, we could always set up the FnF's again, 'twas fun.Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"
