Does valve want medals to be used for purchasing hats?

Agreed. You're thinking of the MMO genre I believe. Thats not to say that there aren't people like that in FPS or TF2, but I don't think it is as common.

You have to admit then when you play spy on ttp you're pretty much fucked. I yet to see a day where nobody spy checks here. :3

They should reward 100% achievements for the class with the hat. I understand that would create achievement whoring, but hopefully not on too large of a scale as the hats dont do anything except look fancy.
