Yeah, the movement penalty was rather annoying. But I still would rather have jarate.

I think it all really depends on what your facing. If the enemy team is running 2 good spies and your in a position where, as a good sniper, only a spy can get to you, then I think the shield might be more important. If your in a position where many classes can reach you then a quick jarate will probably save you more often

One of the important things with the shield is to be "among allies" so the spy cant revolver you. Ex. at the end of goldrush 3-1. One of it's big upsides is "hands free operation". It'll generally be more useful for those who like to keep zoomed in and focused on their primary targets. We'll see how this pans out.

I'm gonna call it that the shield still sucks. I am glad they decided that a weapon that was in every way worse than the other options didn't need a penalty for using it, though.

If you're among allies (which you should be), a spy ca't knife you without dying anyways, even assuming you let them sneak up on you (which you shouldn't be). Good snipers in pubs are held in check by spam and other good snipers. Spies should focus on disrupting the advance.

The shield does suck, but sometimes good Sniper spots aren't where your teammates are. There are several like that on badwater.

Jarate is such a teamplay weapon that I use it exclusively. It's unfortunate that it doesn't do the Sniper much good because you don't have the SMG anymore to take advantage of it.
