Haha Joe's good ol soccer analogy. It's true though. Sometimes tf2 can be more laid back, but sometimes it's way more intense than CSS imo. TF2 isn't and can't really just be a deathmatch. In CSS, one player can turn around and headshot a bunch of guys on the other team a lot easier than a scout can take out on a bunch of players on the other team in TF2. In CSS you make a call in the beginning and you call stuff out on the map but in TF2 you rely more on the other different classes to help take out the other team when you're class isn't able to and that's how the communication works differently. I'm sorry you've had a few experiences where you haven't heard people using their mics, but if you play during more prime times with more regs I'm sure you'll have a hell of a time and change your mind.

tf2 has both a lower and higher complexity level.

I understand the frustration with a team that does not communicate. I find this is just a symptom rather than the cause of bad play though. Oddly enough if you have every player on his mic you end up worse off than having everyone was silent. I find that you really only need one player making the calls. This player needs to keep track of when/where to push/hold, where the enemy sentries are, the status of ubers, and if the enemy has a spy/sniper/flanking scout.

I have been playing a lot of medic lately, and find that it is a natural fit for me to make most of these calls. As medic I always know where my uber is and have a good idea of the enemy uber based on this. I stay close to the front line so I know our strength in relation to theirs. If there is a spy, sniper or sneaky scout I am the first to know because they are gunning for me. The only info I need from my team is where the sentries are, and it is easy enough to ask for that. Also, a team tends to listen to a medic more than other classes. It may be because they don't want to to switch off medic, or because they think you are doing them a favor, but it works out for everyone if the medic is on the mic.

    Re: TF2 Lack of Communication

Just play with me, I never shut up. Im constantly communicating with my medic and those around me, calling out all enemy locations I spot and more. If im quite it means (A) nothings happening, (B) To many people have told me to shut up cause its just a game, or (C) Iv played to many maps with bad teammates and I know anything I say will be frustation or anger and so its better not to say it cause il just curse at people through the mic, which isnt productive.

But in CS:S I think there is less comms then you think. At the start theres the call of where to go, then the CT's call where the T's are attacking from. Then MAYBIE someone says one sec guys im flashing. Just like in TF2 you expect people to know how to react to the situation. Im not gonna go tell smoken "Push this door after my flash goes off", he knows to do that Tho I will tell Toker to go choke on a cock for shooting me in the head for the 5th round in a row.

Or occasionally, Langrad is dead and everyone is relieved for a few seconds while they hear nothing. :P
