Random free hat?

Did I miss something? A week ago was the last time I played; and then I went on a week-long work travel binge, returning yesterday.

I decided to blow off some steam on TF2 last night and when I logged in I accidentally opened my inventory and what did I see? The "Hatless Scout" hat...where the hell did that come from?

I never found that one, I know it for sure...all my other hats were present and accounted for - plus this one that I never got an on-screen notification of.

Anybody else ever had this happen?

Am I the only one who thinks that you should be able to craft a Class-Specific hat by combining another hat and the desired class's Cass Token?

a hatless hat!? i mean.... what we have here is a terrific response to a possibly volatile situation, a shimmering light at the end of tunnel filled with dead pigs.

I can barely function at work, can't wait to get home and see if it is still there...or if Valve discovered their mistake and took it back...or maybe, it multiplied and I have other random mystery hats just waiting to be discovered!
