Favorite Map and Why?
No polls or any of that horseshit. What's your favorite TF2 map and why?
I'll start. For me, it's Badwater Basin, although Upward has become a close second.
Badwater has something for everyone. Wide-open spaces for Scouts to flank and Snipers to peg heads, hidey spots for Engies and Spies, ambush spots for Pyros and Heavies—you name it. It also has just enough choke points for defenses as well as a certain "verticality" to it in spots to keep the gameplay fresh and different every time. And that final ramp to push down the cart—it's great to play on either Red or Blu.
Plus, it's well known, so players don't moan and groan when it comes up in the rotation.
So, what's your fave?Happiness is a roiling fermenter.

The best map ever made is cp_badlands; a map that has 3 distinctive areas perfect for contention and is the be all end all for competitive TF2. I love the way it looks and plays and it requires excellent teamwork that can turn the tides either way.
If I were to play a game with 24 people though, I might choose bad water; my favorite PL map. Gold Rush is the gold standard, but Badwater wins since it's newer and I like the elevation aspects of the areas as opposed to the flatter gold rush experience.
Good topic.

Re: Favorite Map and Why?
At the moment, Hightower is my favorite map. This is because it's just an open map - there is only one area where it is linear. It's the best map for Spies by far because of this and that there are so many places to hide or escape through. I think the only class that has a disadvantage on it is Heavy, due to spy goodness and long ranges.
After that, I agree with Badwater. The problem with that map is that demospam can totally shut it down.
