    tf2 scam

now i cant really imagine anyone stupid enough to actually fall for this.

saw someone on the server mentioning something bout buying an extra paint. and they offer to paint your hat in exchange for any weapon. not to trade you a paint but you trade them your hat and a weapon and they will paint it and give it back how i read it. again i dont think anyone is that stupid but you never know

    Re: tf2 scam

There are all sorts of scams out there.

    "Crate Opening Services" (LOL)

Also, current value (in a bubble market) has certain hats like Fez and Chieftain's at a 4+ "normal hat value." It's silly, but true. So somebody will ask for 6 hats for his valuable one, and since you can only trade 4 at a time, the customer has to offer the first two on honor code. Then the seller can just block him and have the first two free.

The trading market is insane, as is the "bubble" I mentioned earlier. I grew my inventory by nearly 10 hats (more if you count "bubble value"), trading compulsively this weekend... did a lot of deals heavily in my favor for sure, but I did not scam anybody. Saw a lot of scams being perpetuated though...

I'm curious to see how Valve starts handling things like this. Opening an economy is extremely tough to do, and even tougher to keep in check.

What kinds of trades did you make & how did you contact those people you traded with? Do tell!

Same as investing in any bubble.

You buy at a discount from people who aren't familiar with market values. Raid random servers, find people willing to trade new Poly hats for crappy old ones. I got most of the Poly hats in my pack right now that way (most proud of Sober Stuntsman... forget what garbage I offered for it). Any EXTRA Poly hats, I took to Steam forums where people pay ridiculous things for Poly hats. The Napper's and Sombrero are actually fairly common (though Poly) so I have obtained quite a few of those 1:1 but sold 2:1.

I also traded decent old dupes for 2x crap hats (hatless, beard, etc)... then crafted the crap hats... basically giving me a chance at a good/new hat for my old dupe. I did this twice, and BOTH times got the Fez which is very sought after, but I have no interest in it. Traded one Fez straight up for Chieftain's Challenge (a VERY hard trade to get). Traded the other Fez for Bombing Run + Tricorne + Hallmark + Lumbricus.

Although, one crazy thought just occurred to me. Since I know you share my thoughts on idling. ;-) To anybody who would consider spending $50 on Poly pack... why not just spend $50 on 5x TF2 accounts? Boom, endless stream of items/hats again... like the good old days. Seriously considering...

The question would be, how to run them all at once? Need 5 different PCs because when I launch Steam and try to launch again it yells at me that Steam is already running.
