Re: TPG Players and TF2 Public Beta
The new vitasaw buff and the new medigun are extremely interesting.
Some guy at SPUF trademarked Vita-Vision for the new vitasaw ability to see enemy health, which is an extremely interesting ability. I have to assume that you have to have the Vitasaw out for this to be in effect, otherwise that is just an enormous upgrade, well worth the -10 HP in my opinion. If its only when Vitasaw is out then it is still a very interesting idea. If its Vita-out-only I would have to guess you would use it mainly when chasing down the enemy (your guys arent taking damage) or you are running to the fight (not close enough to heal.) Since obviously you wanna keep the healing going as much as possible. This weapon also obviously rewards medics that USE A FREAKING MIC since the information received will normally be more relevant to the combat classes. The only use for the medic i suppose is trying to figure out if he should leg it or whip out a needle gun, but its probably too late by the time you make that decision.
I have heard mixed reviews on the new Quick Fix medigun, but it seems like a lot of people think it is very fun. Especially the ability to run at scout speed while healing scouts (and escape at scout speed.) I am mainly interested in its application to comp play however, since I do not see it being as useful in 12 vs. 12. There is too much spam potential for you to give up either the ability to one shot people or invulnerability in a regular pub game. It rewards medics that constantly switch heal targets however, since there is no overheal ability to encourage sticking on one target. Comp scouts will probably hate it since now they will NEVER be overhealed.
I am tempted to install the Beta just to check out these weapons. Would love to hear the opinions of anyone who has the Beta and has checked out the new changes in action.Last edited by DrHaphazard; 02-12-11 at 01:26 PM.

Re: TPG Players and TF2 Public Beta
Wow got confirmation from SPUF that Vita-vision is ALWAYS in effect, no matter what weapon you are using currently. That is nuts, and if they really add that to the game I think I am going to have to be Vita-Saw all the way, unless they add another downside.
The Vitasaw buff - Steam Users' Forums
Will be banned in comp for certain sure though.

Re: TPG Players and TF2 Public Beta
I just got back from playing the beta a little and I gotta say it's got some fresh changes going on. The Quick Fix is strange. The heal rate is a nice welcome, and the ubercharge rate is crazy. But using the uber feels... lacking. You get 3x heal rate which is fine and dandy, but I don't see a whole lot of use to it, unless you have a Heavy tanking a Level 3 Sentry or something. The speed boost when healing Scouts is fun too. What I also really like about the Quick Fix is that attacking the heal target is pretty much useless. It will force people to go for the Medic, which should have been their target anyway.
The new flare gun (forget the name) is fun and could spice things up a bit. The biggest thing I've seen is that Pyros can do a little jump maneuver much like stickies or rocket jumping. I also like being able to set off the flare in a group of enemies and set them all on fire. Very fun
Now on to what I hate about the beta: the change from 'no random crits' to 25% less damage. Bad bad bad I think. I know you sword n' boarders wouldn't like it. The Eyelander, Southern Hospitality, and Gunslinger have suffered massive downgrades in my opinion. It really kills their worth in our no crit server.
One last thing: the Vita-Saw's new upgrade is sweet. It could be really nice for a good team-oriented match. But I want all you bandwagon-jumpers to know that I liked the Vita-Saw BEFORE the updateTo clear any confusion: Xanthur34 is my username, but Soleg is my Steam name.
