Re: TF2 Vanilla
None of this would even have t be in debate if Valve took some time to design the weapons. The Pyro/Medic unlocks were really awesome and unique. They didn't just give the class some new weapon to try, they gave them a viable alternitive play style that wasn't overpowered, or better, or cheap, it was just different. Starting at the scout update, they started getting a lot worse at updates. The sandman was incredibly gay and not well thought out at all as it was basically a straight upgrade to the bat (can't remember if it removed double jump or not) The heavy had natatsha, which wasn't amazing at first but it's been annoying for a long while. To everyone except the team using it, it's just very very annoying, and an anti-fun weapon. then you have the spy with the original dead ringer. Then you have the sniper with the huntsman, which isn't overpowered by any means but it's also anti fun if you get hit by it because it almost always feels like a lucky shot.
you get my drift, I wouldn't care about unlocks if they did them right. Unfortunantly, they did not.Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

Re: TF2 Vanilla
I swap most of my load outs depending on which server I am on. I thought everyone did?
In any case the only argument I have seen against the unlocks is simply "I don't like X". I suppose that is as valid a reason as any, but by the looks of the poll there are as many people that like everything as there are that don't like at least something. Any way you slice it you are going to have a significant number of people who don't like it.
I think the main issue with making a change is that you need to have enough people who like each style to prime both servers. If we can keep a pure server primed along with a no-crit, no-spread, no-unlock server I guess there would be no-problem.

Re: TF2 Vanilla
What? 3 Years for all the class updates isn't good enough?
Nothing wrong with different, seriously. I mean you say it's not that these unlocks are any of those 3 things, just different. That honestly alludes me, why would you want the same thing with only a minor alteration? If it's going to be an unlock it might as well do something entirely different.
That was a community idea, not Valve's. Someone on SPUF came up with that concept, so if you're going to blame anyone, blame them, we were going to get the Catcher's Mit. Which would allow Scouts to catch rockets and throw them back at people.
That was due to the Heavy Buff, not the weapon itself. Perfect example of how modifying the basic game mechanics has a domino effect.
Dead Ringer has been nerfed plenty of times, often nowdays there's rarely occasions where you should use it. Most of the people that use it constantly aren't that great. They can stab people, but that's it. Needless to say they're one trick ponies.
The Huntsman isn't that bad, sure it can be spammed and you get hit with a lucky shot, but in terms of an unlock, it makes perfect sense. The Sniper is all about Precision, the Huntsman was the best alternative Valve could come up with and I'm glad they stuck with it.
My only response to this is, ok, why don't YOU do a better job?
Seriously, if you look at all the community suggestions for unlocks, you'll notice a trend. It either ends up being horribly overpowered and nerfed to oblivion, or the constant subject of rage and discussion. The Equalizer and The Sandman are talked about all the time, and yet as far as nerfing goes Valve has done all they can to those weapons without making them a waste of a slot in your backpack.
Unlocks like the Eyelander, Huntsman, Gunslinger, while different, they add more fun to the game. They offer new ways to play which keeps people coming back for more. If you actually played the game more instead of complaining about it maybe you'd enjoy it.
