Having lag? Try this
Coors posted this a while ago, and I figure I'd do it again since some people missed it.
It's very simple, what you want to do is make a file called "autoexec.cfg" save it as all files and it'll automatically make it cfg file to put in teamfortress2/tf/cfg.
Now, open it again, and add this
cl_cmdrate "67"
cl_updaterate "67"
cl_interp "0"
cl_inter_ratio "1"
rate "30000"
What this does is set your rates for optimized gameplay, the typical tick rate for servers is 66, putting it at 67 will cap it out to ensure a better connection. cl_interp 0 allows it to automatically determine the best possible interp for the current server, improving hit registry. Rate just has to do with the speed of your connection, the higher it goes, the faster it is, just be sure your comp can handle it.
Now, here's the next part. If you have trouble with "autoexec.cfg" crashing your game, you have another option. You need to make a cfg file for each class (spy.cfg, sniper.cfg, etc). and add this line in each
exec "autoconfig"
Not only that, but you'll have to rename "autoexec.cfg" to "autoconfig.cfg"
This ensures the cfg is run everytime you switch classes, just to ensure your conncetion remains stable.
In the end, you should have something that looks like this
Hope this helpsLast edited by Watsyurdeal?; 02-03-11 at 01:57 AM.

Re: Having lag? Try this
Lag is a very broad term used to describe a lot of different issues. Setting your rates correctly will help with lag caused by loss. The problem is that there is no magic bullet for rates. Some machines will work great with the rates posted while others will need a much lower rate like 33.
