Re: Just bought TF2 New player tips?
What I've found in my time playing this game is that playing medic is a fantastic way to learn the basics of the game. You have far more ability to observe what is going on around you, and if you find a good player to keep your heals on, you can observe the basic tactics they use, how they're successful, and so on.
That said, you should try all the different classes to see which one you like the most. Soldier and medic are perhaps the best classes to pick up and learn right away, for reasons that me and other people have already given And of course, if you play on TPG with a lot of our regs, you'll learn what things you need to do (on both tactical and strategic levels) to be a team player very -very- quickly.
EDIT: Sniper is also very straightforward, just remember a couple of rules of thumb:
1. Headshots are more efficient and helpful than bodyshots most of the time. Bodyshotting is a good idea if you have to pick off certain important classes with certainty, say, a medic with an uber ready, but generally you want to aim for the head.
2. The rifle also has a charge time to do more damage, but other than that, sniping is very much like any other game in most respects.Last edited by Interests; 06-14-11 at 05:38 PM.

If you know nothing of the game, then honestly, your gonna die alot. And some of the ways your gonna die are going to leaving you asking "what the fuck?" Don't let the frustration get the better of you. Ask questions and you'll be fine.
Get a mic (if not one isn't owned)
