Re: Hardest class to play on tpg
Yeah, I'd have to vote the medic as well. The server with a lot of regs is rather unusually demanding on the medic. Most of the regs understand that the medic is the key to the whole operation of the team 9 times out of 10, and give him hell for it.

Re: Hardest class to play on tpg
Spy, easily. Spy has the hardest time getting anything significant done against a competent team that communicates well. You'll be spotted, lit, and shot to pieces before you can do much of anything besides maybe get one backstab or a sapper off - and even then, a pyro that's on the ball will notice you and stop you.
Medic isn't nearly as hard, particularly if you have a competent team that's able to do their job and keep the scouts, spies, and snipers off of your balls.
Engineer can be difficult if you're the only one and you're trying to setup a nest. If you're the only engineer, you should be using gunslinger. If there are two engineers, they should nest close to each other (not together) and should stay near each other at all times. One or both should have the wrangler; one shoots while the other repairs. A pyro should hang out nearby to keep spies away and to airblast stickies. It can be extremely difficult to dislodge two nesting engineers that are supporting each other well, with a pyro around to shove away incoming uber heavy/pyro combos and to blast stickies away. Wrangler'd sentries getting repairs are effectively immune to rockets and snipers.
I also think that most engies don't make good enough use of the ability to move the turrets around. When I play a defensive engy I move my turret after every single kill, almost. Put it in corners, on top of roofs, anywhere unexpected.

Re: Hardest class to play on tpg
I don't think it's medic at all, for this reason though. I don't play much TF2 really. That of which I do is usually pubbing doing the usual. When I'm on TPG I'm 90% of the time a medic. Why? Because it is such an essential player. But it is really kind of easy. I have modded my medic to do the calls when I like them and keep healing after I let off so it's easy to heal people. After you get an uber just watch your back. Before that just heal around. Keep everyone up. Overheal when you can. Try and keep a lot of extra healing on the heavy or soldier as they take a lot of damage... It's simple for me. However, I think part of it was being a top tier monk in Guild Wars for a while. It really helped me learn to micro manage everything and keep everything slow and calm in my head. This is why I can take care of a whole team pretty damn well.
For me, the hardest class is engy. I absolutely get to damn frustrated trying to get all of my stuff up and pyros aren't spy checking and the soldier in front of me let's a scout slip through just before I get my sentry up. Gah.Speed. I am speed.

Re: Hardest class to play on tpg
ok...since no one seems to being saying the obvious..the hardest class is definetly soldier on tpg. you can try and rocket jump, you can try and come in with an uber, you can try and spam..but you know what....all the other team needs is one gay ass pyro to air blast all 4 of your rockets away or a pyro to airblast the uber away so you cant get shit done and with all the up grades to other classes, it is becoming increasingly difficult to be able to get much done as a soldier if the other team has some decent players on it. all pyros have to do is right click and if the rocket has not exploded when its 3/4 of the way through their head it gets thrown back at you and then u get knocked up and instantly meleed with the stupid instant crits because pyros cant do anything else but be bitches. spies can just de-cloak behind you without making a damn sound now, the new tomislav makes it nearly impossible to even kill a heavy anymore if you catch them by surprise, the new demo items are only an upgrade and are gay as shit and all demos who only use them are gay( and don't try and say your good with the weapons, your a noob for using them and your gay.) in fact the only classes that a soldier even has a remote chance against is the scout, sniper, and medic, and thats just because none of them have a counter to the soldier like all of the other classes have now. so thats the end of my rant...soldier is by far the hardest class on tpg because they can be countered by almost every class now and being able to rocket jump is useful, but it almost feels to me now that its better to walk and just try and keep your hp because the use of jumping someone other than a sniper, scout, or med(as long as there by themselves) is no longer an option.
man this came out a lot longer than i thought it would.
edit*
the hardest class inst spy because you have the stupid as hell dead ringer..go die 20 dies as spy( but wait your not dead).
the only other class besides the soldier that is the hardest is scout, because every class now can rape the scout a new one if the scout doesn't catch him by surpriseLast edited by Gimli; 07-02-11 at 06:56 PM.
