Am I the only one here who mains Scout? I like Scout for being fast and powerful. He's the closest class to playing Quake.
I also play Soldier for rocket jumping and generally being good (and harder to fuck up than scout), and sniper because once in awhile I have a good day. If the team is notably missing a class, I will usually fill in though.Last edited by Derek; 08-04-11 at 01:42 AM.

definitely not, though for some reason most of the old scout players that are elite don't play scout that much anymore. STill there are some good scout yet on tpg out there for sure, Mr. Guns comes to mind, and several regulars can pick up the class and be very effective with it. I find most people that snipe end up being equally proficient at scout since the aiming mechanic seems comparable, whereas missiles/pills involve a wider 'flick' range which feels very different than the scouts.
Closest to quake maybe in movement speed for sure, but not really gameplay wise. I'd say closet to quake is still the soldier, though the missile shoots so slow that's why I never liked soldier, but I'm much happier playing that class now that the liberty launcher is available.Last edited by Oozish; 08-04-11 at 12:03 PM.

I know there are good scouts on the server, but apparently none of them are posting here, because after three pages I was the first to say that I main Scout.
I find the Soldier and his rockets to be too slow to really give that Quake vibe.Last edited by Derek; 08-04-11 at 12:20 PM.

Re: Why do you play your main class?
I don't play scout on TPG because of the player count, but it is one of my favorite classes.
The TF2 tournies I have played in (included one I won) I have run scout for my team though. He is extremely powerful in low player count games and can destroy a team just by picking off the medics. In 12v12 there is just too much spam and engies to really get good flanking going on. Possible, yes... generally not as productive though.
