    Snakewater = Controversy? (lol, jk)

    I enjoyed the barn blitz discussion so I would like to hear what peeps think about some of the newer maps, like snakewater. Pros, cons, surprises?

    Example. I was surprised how effective a pyro could be. Even in my limited ability I was able to scoot around and cause carnage, cap points, annoy medics, etc. The map seems too wide open at first, but with a little creativity it aint bad at all.
    I like all the fun little windows, drop downs, tops of small buildings.
    I dont like where the respawns are. Maybe they were positioned to hide them from attackers, but they dont seem to help point people in the quickest direction to the next point.

    A good map. People need to learn the roll out, it is extremely simple for most classes. Just keep heading to the right. Also soldiers need to start taking control of the area above the middle point.

    I rather like snakewater actually. I wonder if part of why Addrake hated it so much was because it is a scout friendly map. XD

    I used to really hate defending on it, especially 2nd and last. But I had a blast on it last night, so I guess it has grown on me.

    It's one of the better 5 point cp maps for Spy, there's a lot of good spots to use for ambushing people.

    Think I was there with ya. Of course the map went all the way to the end of the time limit with no wins, and then in sudden death the "losing" team came back strong..... sigh..... Lol awesome!

    I really like how there are plenty of places to duck away from incoming fire, or ambush as a pyro or spy, without the map feeling cramped.

    Mid point of the map is terrible for a pub if you are defending two and trying to retake mid.

    Because mid has such high ground, its impossible to push from your two to mid because they have the massic height advantage on you.

    So you are stuck defending two waiting for them to push, and even when they push and you get a good wipe, you have to travel up the hill/stairs to an area thats easily guardable by just a couple decent players until their team respawns.

    I would like the map if the elevation of mid was reduced downwards by about 20 feet.

    Well, there's three to four ways to attack mid though. I agree that the stairs to the sides of the point are bad for pushes, but they are a great place for spys/scouts/pyros to ambush. Standing on mid, the super low section that is to the right also has a massive height disadvantage. But, there is the ramp to the building above it and the house on the left that aren't bad places to push from, I think.

    Badlands is pretty similar in a way, since mid is elevated beyond second from pretty much all angles, and the house is not a good place to be stuck in.
