To get started with LS, the first step is to download the source with subversion, there should be a sticky about it in the code child forum. And instead of building the DLL (LS is two parts, DLL shim and python logic) you can just reuse the DLL from a prebuilt lonestar, I recommend the one I just linked to that Kris wanted in this forum.

Once you start having questions, we can post about it in the code forum to keep this organized.
