    Getting a Scrim for CS:S.

Wrote this guide to help you all learn to get scrims for CS:S with your team, vent, irc, the whole shebang. Pretty sweet and to the point.
    __________________________________________________ _____________________________________

Hey Teamplayers! You CounterStrike guys lookin' for a scrimmage? This guide has the most efficient methods for getting your scrim set up just right.

Step 1: Finding people to scrim with.
Probably the easiest way to have people to scrim with is to be in a clan. It's just smooth to have those buddies you can rally together and play with. For example, say I wanted to do a 5v5, and I see some of my { BD } boys log on, I message them asking if they want to. However, clanless players, do not feel left out! You can join a CS:S PUG (Pick Up Group) Group on STEAM, ask TTP Players. or friends.

    Step 2: Ventrilo/Teamspeak/Other VoIP
If you plan on winning your match, or be serious about scrimming, a 3rd party VoIP client is a must. This is because you really need to be able to talk to your living teammates when you are dead. For example, if you walk out of B tuns and get headshotted instantly, you need to tell your team how many people were in the site, and in what orientation they were to the exits. Also, you need to be able to help out the living when they are in a clutch situation or in a hectic moment where they could use that helping hand.

Note: Ventrilo/Teamspeak requires a server, and usually a good quality server is purchased. I highly reccomend www.maxfrag.net for any Ventrilo/Teamspeak hosting.

    Step 3: IRC (Internet-Relay-Chat)
Okay, so you have your teammates all "vented up", but you don't have anyone to play against! This is where mIRC comes in. Basically, you need to download the latest mIRC client from your preferred source, and install. Then you will fill in the initial boxes and select a server. You will select GameSurge>Random Server. Then, a channel box will pop up. You will type "#sourcescrim", and then BAM! You're in a chatroom with hundreds of competitive CS:S players looking to play.

If you have a server, chances are you know how to run it. In this case, type something along the lines of:

    "5v5//de_map//OPEN//Ours//Location"

Broken down, this is stating you are looking for a 5v5, on whichever map you prefer (usually people will want to play that weeks CAL map), then OPEN meaning that you are at the CAL-Open skill level, your own server (meaning they come to you), and the location of that server (East, Cent, West). Someone will PM you asking for your connect line. Give them the connect line to your server now, which should follow this format

"connect xx.xxx.xx.xxx:27105; password xxxxxx" (x referring to letters/numbers)

If you do not have a server, you can do one of two things.

a.) Wait for someone to post saying their server, then PM them.
b.) Type something like: 5v5//Open//de_map//Yours, and await a PM

Once you have their connect line, copy and paste it into your ventrilo comment. On the right side of the vent window, hit "comment" and paste it into the top box. Your team can now right click on your name and hit Miscellaneous>Copy Comment, then paste that into their console.

ShaBLAM! You are now joining the opposing teams server for a friendly scrim. Once all players are ready they will lo3 the game and play.

    GL and HF,

Rudy I dont think that you need anything after the last whole sentence. tThe Note on Players and Note on Scrims section is probably not needed, seeing as how most people already know the current CAL rules, or have a familiar idea as to what they are. Also that section has nothing to do with finding a scrim. IMO you should just end it with the lo3 line.

Hmm, I suppose I could take Screenies of myself using these programs.

    That would be done tomorrow.

    Sound good?

Rudy take screenies of say the mirc login process and channel connection. A sample of the script you use in mirc, maybe a couple of vent or ts pics, and idk something from a scrim.....like the lo3, gl hf, something like that.

Psst, your images need to be in the TTP gallery, not your photobucket account. And merge them with the text so it looks all pretty 'n stuff. After that, I think you're good.
