Small update made, just need to write up a small conclusion now.

Just for reference - from the 2142 standpoint. Snipers there have the same stigma that you've mentioned. There are, however, several who can play the Recon/Sniper exceedingly well, support their squad/team and decimate the enemy ranks too. It is not common, and it is also not easy to do either. But, it can be be accomplished. I think that you'll find that recon/snipers who make a point of putting the "recon" first are the ones that you want. Asset destruction being one of the best uses. You blind the commander, you gain/save tickets almost by default. Also, taking out hostile armor equals tickets as well. There are a plethora of uses that a good "recon/sniper" can be put to. Flag/Silo defense is another key area that is often overlooked. A well supplied recon/sniper (a good one) can, in many cases, hold a silo single-handed.

Overall, very well written and I enjoyed reading it.

I'm assuming this is about battlefield but I do believe it could be put in context to any of the games. And I would love to see this heading in that direction.
