So we have completed one shoutcast, which can be found here:
civilwars - TPG Maiden Shoutcast part 1
and part 2 here:
civilwars - TPG Maiden Shoutcast part 2
And our second is streaming as I type this, which can be found here:
TeamPlayerGaming
All future casts will be live, and available for replay, on the TPG channel listed above. So, where do you come in? Well we are always in need of volunteers, so if you think you have what it takes to run camera, do play by play, or anything else that might be of use we will put you to work. To sign up click on this link, Permission Groups, and find the group Media Contributor, then check the radio button and click Join Group near the bottom. Once you are accepted you will be given access to another section of the forums where we keep all of the cookies, booze, and important details.
Our goal is to branch out into all Source games that we host, so even though we have only done L4D2 casts so far don't let that deter you if you are interested in other games.Last edited by Walkerxes; 12-07-11 at 11:42 PM.

Re: Want to be famous?
I'd love to help, alas I know nothing of L4D competitive play, and my upload connection sucks too hard for cameraman.
But I'm excited for the live broadcast.Last edited by bust331; 12-08-11 at 02:53 AM.

Re: Want to be famous?
You asked for feedback on the video... Below is my opinion on the cast as a viewer (who doesn't play the game) and also as someone who has contributed to esports (MLG Pro circuit music 2011).
Audio needs major work. Game audio is distracting and the constant change in volumes is as well. Game Audio should always be nearly silent when watching a SHOUTcast. It is majorly distracting many times due to the constant change in volumel. Game Audio should always be nearly silent when watching a shout cast. If I wanted to listen to game audio, I'd go watch a players stream.
The Casters need work. The lack of enthusiasm kills it. The casters did not once tell me anything to get me interested in watching. In fact, I wanted to stop watching 30 seconds into the cast. Why the hell do I want to watch this game be played? It's a Casters job to keep an audience hooked. What the hell is actually going on? The most important factor in successful SHOUTcasting is the personalities that you are listening too.
I am an avid watcher of Starcraft SHOUTcasting. I've seen the best of the best compete live on MLG, GSL, NASL.. blah blah blah. I can tell you that if it wasn't for the personalities behind the action I wouldn't watch them at all. I find myself constantly watching matches SHOUTcasted by the better casters, rather than better players. (Consider player/Caster webcams)
I didn't even know L4D was shoutcasted... Seems kinda odd being that it's PVE.
Being that I have played L4D maybe twice, the SHOUTcaster's better do an amazing fucking job, or I'm gonna hang up the phone 30 seconds in, every time.
I don't know what TPG's media team's goal is here, but I don't see L4D as being a game that attracts a large audiance, in terms of E-sports/SHOUTCasting. Are you going to expand to other hosted games?
I'm not saying I could do any better, it takes balls to even attempt to SHOUTcast. However, Internet viewers are ruthless, so I'm just giving you my opinion on what I experienced as a internet viewer.
I don't know what help I would be in the production, but I'd be willing to lend a hand. I'll sign up.

Rooster, The feedback is for sure appreciated. The audio is a known issue that will be corrected going forward. Kanati was asked to run camera the afternoon of the cast, and had no real time to prepare. All of us are rookies at this, so we will learn as we go. As for L4D it is PVP with AI common infected. The reason we chose L4D is because those players are the ones who were willing to step up and volunteer. We would love to do casts of all of the other Source games eventually. As for the casters this was also their first run in the "booth". I know when Blonde and BT listened to their first cast they commented on several things they could improve upon, and with practice I think we all will. I think most/all of us are at the point that we don't even know half of what we should be doing. Thanks for watching, and for commenting.

As for the importance of the games we have casted so far, there is none. These are just regular games that we are testing out and getting used to shoutcasting. We've only completed two official shoutcasts so far which means that we are no where near perfection at this stage. I don't think Civil and the rest of everyone involved expects crazy views from these first shoutcasts. We do need all the feedback possible and as many positive helping hands as we can get. But so far we are moving in the right direction and that is what is most important.
Also Walker I requested permissions to the Media Contributor group.

Re: Want to be famous?
Yeah.... sorry about my harshness with my last post. I was a bit tired and crabby when I posted it. Also, I had only watched the first of 2 videos at the time of my post. The audio problem wasn't as evident during the 2nd match, so someone must have figured it out. For being brand new to SHOUTcasting, this was for sure a good first attempt.
I think TPG could greatly benefit from something like SHOUTcasting and Live events, so any if I can help in any way I'd be glad to do so.
Again, Sorry for my Harshness... I need to watch how I say things.

No problem Rooster, we need people to say here's where you could do better and not just talk about what they liked all the time.
You brought up the casting, you seem like you have a lot more time watching casts then we can get to quickly, would you have any suggestions on how to make the commenting more like something YOU'D want to watch?
