Thread: Unban request - [SWAT]-V4- (and Jamstir)

Hello, I'm -V24-.


Earlier this week I was banned (along with my clan mate Jamstir) from your BF3 server while playing on Grand Bazaar. I'd like to describe what happened and ask TPG to consider repealing our bans.


I, with about four other SWAT guys, got up on the ledge that allows fire down on to flags A and D. That ledge can be accessed by felling the tree in the courtyard across from the D flag then walking its length to where it rests on the ledge, which is what we did. Not to suggest that access to the ledge should be permitted, but maybe it's worth mentioning that players on that ledge are not invulnerable to fire from the ground. Anyway, I got a few kills when suddenly I was kicked and banned. The ban reason was "Map Exploit." I don't know which admin did the bans.


I'm not here to dispute TPG's rules. We would certainly not have accessed the ledge if there had been any indication that doing so was a violation. But I would like to point out that I saw no warning. For all I know a warning was issued and none of us saw it. It could also be that TPG rules clearly prohibit access to that ledge in which case I could be faulted for not having reviewed those rules. If so I can offer no excuse for having neglected looking over TPG's rules and you have my sincere apology for that. But as far as I know it's just as likely that server admins assumed we were cheating. I myself was unaware until that day that the ledge could be accessed without a MAV (before the fix). I want to be clear that we may have missed a warning or neglected to check the rules but there was no cheating. SWAT plays fair and does not set out to ignore or bend or in any way challenge server rules. We see ourselves as guests and expect of each other to act accordingly.


Please accept our apology. We do enjoy TPG's hospitality and sincerely regret the disruption we caused. If our ban is lifted we will of course abide the prohibition against accessing that ledge.

The tree thing is new to us too.

After some discussion, we decided it wasn't a glitch or an exploit. Thank you both (Jamstir too) for handling this in a respectful, professional manner. I wouldn't expect anything less from any SWAT member (except maybe Cornfuse.....he's shifty :) ).

Both of your bans should now be lifted. I'll keep this thread open for tonight in case either of you have an issue connecting. Beyond that, feel free to pm me directly.
