Here are ways to increase your distance when leaping as a hunter:
1. Aim at 45º upwards and pounce - This theoretically will maximize the distance you can leap, though it would put your target out of sight, meaning you will have to estimate where it is.
2. Jump from a high place - A building, rubble or even a van can greatly increase the distance you pounce. If your aim is good enough then you can easily hit the enemy for more than 10 points of damage (Excluding the 5 damage dealt on hit).
3. Jump from surfaces - You can pounce off walls whilst already being airbourne, this can increase the distance you pounce. It's a hard skill to learn but once you get the hang of it you will start doing a lot of damage.

Has anyone ever tried pouncing from the top of the elevater shaft on no mercy down into the elevater and landing on someone. Im not even sure if its possible it came to me just then.
Thats the highest possible point in the game i can think of for a pounce id image it would do 40+ damage would require alot of skill and a bit of luck though.
As for normal pounces you dont always have to be high to do decent damage. A good tip is crouncing behind a car or dumpster that survivors are going to pass you can aim pretty much exactly into the sky at 0 degrees and come straight back down on top of one.
This works best in the levels where there are trains etc and the survivors are all running one side. Crouch the over side and pretty much do a 5 degree jump over the vehicle.
I mean ofcourse if there is a high structure or building by all means use it the above is just the best option to use when there isnt anything decent to pounce from. Its also alot harder targeting hunters that do vertical jumps from the ground compared to a hunter doing an angled jump as the hunter will leave your screen and you have to aim into the sky rather than than hunter never really changing position just heading towards you in mid air.

I think there's a cap of 25, but I only say that because I've only heard of it being 25, and nothing more. Then again how many stand in the middle of the elevator anyways? And there's something blocking the opening anyways, so you'd have to be dead on.

Luck meaning theres one person looking through the hatch trying to spot an infected. when im a survivor in the elevator theres ussualy always someone that will look up.

Just charge ur jump and aim in the air, you should able to leap quite high then. I love going exploring as the Hunter.

Exploring as a hunter is the best way to find spots for versus, or just to find little things left by the developers, there's a 'Hi Hunter' printed on one of the walls, where only the hunter can get. It's pretty neat. It's in NM1, in the area where they leave the building.

Achievement Unlocked: Thread Necromancy
You have successfully resurrected a thread at least three months old. Congrats!
And yes, the cap is 25. Check the stickied hunter thread for vids on high points and other jumping tricks! They have some awesome places.
I have yet to master aiming from those heights, and I'd like to be on fire when I do. That would rock.

Uhhh, nope. Wall jumping resets your distance, AKA resetting the pounce dmg. Please actually try things before you speculate incorrectly. If you jump a far distance, then wall jump and hit a survivor thats only 5 feet from the wall jumped spot, you will only get a 1-2, even though the jump chain might have been a mile long.
