Thread: Banned ?

Can anyone tell me why I was banned? Is the tolerance that low in your servers that one instance of "friendly fire" will end up here every time? I was hoping that someone could tell me that I broke some other rule that I was ignorant about or an explanation as to why I ended up here. I can honestly say that this is the first time in the 5-6 years of playing online with BF-2 in vanilla, POE, and PR that I have ever been banned from a server other than an auto bounce in PR for crashing an asset at the start of the game. I have payed countless hours of PR with TTP and have never so much as had a warning.

Perhaps it was how the admin viewed the situation. You did say,

On our server, there is NEVER a reason to TK someone. It's not as if doing so will prevent you from harm. It's just a game. The worst that could happen is that your score will reflect it. I for one would be thankful there is a server where admins are alert and on top of issues as they arise, instead of a server where infractions go unnoticed. Wouldn't you agree?

And to answer your question... yes... the tolerance is low for anyone that abuses the ability to shoot another player and ruin their fun. You saw it one way, the admin saw it another. However, we can just as easily remove a ban as give one. Lucky you.

So does that mean that the admins are watching from the GUI screen and if they see a TK they just flip the switch on the offender? To the best of my knowledge the 2 guys that got friendly fired on did not report me for the TK. It happened so quick that they did not have time.

We have all been in a server where 2 jacklegs are just out to ruin someone elses fun. One will Tk you and the other will revive you only to start the process all over again. This is what I was refering to as self defense.

No not from a GUI. It was witnessed in-game. Like Ranger said your vote is up. Just hold tight.

It doesn't really matter how you view the incident. It only matters how the admin does. You may think that your TK's were accidental, and that your intention was to kill some enemy far behind them. The admin has neither the time, nor inclination to go through an exhaustive investigation, on the server, while in play. Instead it is our policy to bring potentially problematic players into the forums so we can get a clearer picture of the incident instead of engaging in a he said/she said debate on the server. All that does is disrupt the game for everyone else.

So you were brought in here to help us clarify the incident. You have done so satisfactorily in my estimation. For this reason you vote has been started in the admin forums and is progressing well.

However, it seems you are bent on understanding, and indeed questioning our admin procedures. Comments that suggest our methods are too quick or too impersonal skirt the line of what we will accept. I would simply just say, "fine, thanks for vote", and move on. In your particular case, the admin was watching the incident in game and made the decision that you TK'd intentionally. It's not the end of the world. A properly formatted unban request, and more importantly, a good attitude, go a long way with us. Bans can be removed just as easily as given.

But continuing to question the admins call after they've already made it like akin to asking a police officer if they were right when they gave you a ticket for speeding. It won't do anything except cement in the officers mind (and in this case an admin) that you are indeed the kind of player who is not only willing to speed intentionally, but then complain after every step along the way. There's no difference here.

So, do yourself a favor, and all the admins reading and voting, and just simple say, "Cool. I got it. Thanks for your time."

The admins have voted to unban you. However, many felt you aren't quite "getting it". By that I mean to say they aren't pleased you are willing to TK someone if it's in self defense. While that doesn't have much bearing on this particular incident (which is why you are being unbanned) they feel it reflects a certain mentality that we frown upon at TPG.

As far as this incident goes, your teamkills could have very easily been misinterpreted as intentional. Or you could have had a bug. It doesn't matter. What matters is that the admins don't want to see people on the server who can rationalize teamkilling in any scenario. Don't do that, and I think everything will be fine here.

You may rejoin the server at your earliest possible convenience.
