    TF2 Accidental Ban

Hi, my steam ID is iceteamadness, and my ingame name is Monsieur Mahballs - I was on your server just a few minutes ago, when suddenly a player by the name of 'TF2's Best Pyro' came in with a speedhack while I was also playing Pyro.

As one of two pyros on the Blue Team, I was immediately hit with accusations that it was definitely me, aided by TF2's Best Pyro stating that it was just that he was "really good".

While this was pretty funny, it wasn't so funny to be unexpectedly banned. While I understood that accidents can occur, and considering we were both Pyros it was a mistake anyone could have made, it really sucked that I wasn't unbanned immediately, considering that there was only one speedhacking pyro.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

No hard feelings. Any questions or comments, please feel free to e-mail me.

Edit: Just in case it wasn't clear, the server I was playing on was TeamPlayerGaming.com TF2 No-Crit, with the IP address 173.234.33.163:27016

I was the one who banned you, and I was getting messages it was you and I thought I saw you zipping around in third person, though if the other hacker was on your team it could have been confusion as it was on the same field. It is possible it wasn't you, however, because I promptly banned another speed hacker right after; but he had switched to heavy and was playing pryo before. I figured both of you were speed hacking. Also, people were saying it was you by name. I've responded with a post to the high ups.

It's definitely true that people were addressing me by name - I found that fairly upsetting considering that the hacker had around 20 points more than I did, and I was clearly walking around in a normal fashion, and was wearing the distinctive Alien Headcrab hat. I immediately vocally protested, and when I heard other members agreeing that I was innocent, I thought I was safe. That's fine, though, to err is human - I would have hoped that moderators would be more careful about banning members so quickly, especially when the risk is to ban innocent members. It's a sobering thought, and something that should be taken seriously.

Edit: I noticed that you referred to "the other hacker" in your post - those are 'weasel words' as Wikipedia defines them, and I urge all to ignore what this is implying. There was only one hacker, and it was not me.

However, his perception at that time was that there must have been two; the "pyro" speed hacker he thought he'd gotten and one that was a heavy. Regardless of a mistaken phrasing, you've been unbanned. Stop surfing Wikipedia (a shoddy source of info at best) and go play.

    resolved.
