03-10-12, 05:40 PM #1Question About Week 2 Schedules
So with all of these OT matches and reschedules, what's going to happen with the week 2 schedules? Right now it looks like 1 of the matches won't be finished within the designated match week, so are we going to have a short week for week 2 or push it back?
Also, going forward, has there been any additional thought/announcement on how OT should be handled? In all honesty, I think matches should be played and finished in the same day, but that's just me. I was looking at the main page for the tourney, and it doesn't seem like there are any real clear rules/regulations concerning OT, so I was just wondering. Would be helpful to make things clearer going forward so that we can try to avoid this sort of situation in the futureLast edited by judedeath; 04-25-12 at 10:14 AM.

Re: Question About Week 2 Schedules
I'll add it to the original post.
A lot of it is being played by ear so far, in the last few tournaments we never really ran into OT a whole lot so I wasn't very prepared for 2 in the first week :/ My apologies on that end. OT should be played immediately after the original match, but with the technical difficulties we had going into the first week, everything got delayed and the scheduled times got bumped, so to stay on even later for OT was a bit to late for a few players. So we agree'd to reschedule OT.
Week 2 will be scheduled as normal, if the week 1 OT matches have to be scheduled in week 2, they must play by wed. and plan for a wed night-sunday week 2. For future matches, OT will be played immediately following, give or take a 10min break, but if a team absolutely HAS to reschedule, both teams must agree to have it completed by the end of the tournament week, Sunday night. This isn't esea or cevo, so I am willing to be lenient in certain situations, I just want a fun, fair tournament, where we can all get along and have good time. But I know we can't please everyone, so for those select few, tough shit.Last edited by idunn; 03-10-12 at 09:32 PM.

Re: Question About Week 2 Schedules
Overtime:
-The alternate map will be played as a regular match immediately following the scheduled match, allowing a 10 min break. If a second OT is to occur, then League OT rules will apply. Alternate map will remain, teams will remain on the same side they finished on, ot.cfg will be executed, $10k startmoney, best of 6 rounds, 3 rounds each side(swap after first 3). Replay the same League overtime rules until a victor is determined.

Re: Question About Week 2 Schedules
I think one of the reasons people are not interested in doing the OT right after the match is because it's a completely different map. What's the reasoning behind this? I kind of feel like it should be the same map, just 3 more rounds per side.

Re: Question About Week 2 Schedules
Fine. We will be just like all the pro leagues then. I was just trying to be more eventful, change shit up a bit, be different, but I guess that's a huge problem. I didn't realize we would have such a hard time with this. So here are yet again, new OT rules:
-OT will be played immediately following the scheduled match, allowing a 10 min break. League OT rules will apply. Teams will remain on the same side they finished on, ot.cfg will be executed, $10k startmoney, best of 6 rounds, 3 rounds each side(swap after first 3). Replay the same League overtime rules until a victor is determined.
Is everyone happy?

Dunn this is your tournament...you do things how you see fit. Everyone is free to give you suggestions, but you have the final word. In terms of the OT, I think it's fine that the teams can decide to play it another day, but it should try to be completed before the next matches start. It will start to just be more of a headache for you, Dunn, if you have to continually push back matches and make adjustments, ya know?
But just wanted to say thank you again for everything you are doing. I don't think some people realize how much time and effort goes into running a tourney, and on top of that, having it be organized. I know because I will soon be starting our L4D2 tourney and just the initial preparations are stressing me out. So thank you a ton! You are the definition of a teamplayer.

Re: Question About Week 2 Schedules
Dunn, I was shocked with this style of OT, but now when I look at it, it's kinda cool. Only issue I had was it not being done by the end of the week. If we can end it within the Sunday, or Tuesday at most, I think we could keep doing it this way.

I could care less how it is done, but I do think it should be completed at the same time as the actual match. Dragging out matches into the next week just creates the possibility to screw up the overall scheduling. Also, I am sure if one team has to use their 7th or 8th round pick in the OT when they had their top 5 for the actual match I am sure there will be some people upset.

Re: Question About Week 2 Schedules
Well for me it was time, a weekday and people needed to log to do the stuff that lets them spend time in front of a computer with the air conditioning on and three meals a day. I would personally prefer a second full map for a tie breaker but its not always a doable due to time constraints and what not.

Re: Question About Week 2 Schedules
If we are changing the OT rules, I think in Semi's and Finals we still need the extra match, as it adds more excitement and things are a little slower by then!
