I know the cure for this! A 12 gauge behind the bed and a .45 in the nightstand ensure that whatever's in the dark will be more afraid of you!
That aside, I have mild acrophobia that only really bothers me if I'm near a ledge. I've only really gotten the shakes bad a few times, one of them was in a skyscraper in Tokyo. The building was a circular shape, with windows all around the inside in a circle so you could look down. From the 50th floor, when you looking down the center, all you could see was the reflection of more and more floors below. The optical effect caused my brain to think of it as a bottomless pit and after looking down it for a couple seconds I started to get the shakes real bad and had to move away from it.

i'm afraid of:
burning to death.
silence.
dirty dishwater (soggy food = dsfrhjkshdjdks)
television static/"ants"/"snow" (no i've never seen white noise or whatever that is, it just scares me)
bees (dad is allergic, so i might be too. i ain't tryin' to find out)
red eyed pigs (farm field trip in kindergarten.. it chased me!)
house alarms (we have one and i NEVER turn it on. i'm worried the loud noise will startle me so badly i go into cardiac arrest)
my heart skipping beats.
can't think of any more.. i'm more of an easily startled person than a.. fearful person, i suppose.
